Has anyone read the article by this guy Anendra Singh? I know in the HBU thread he is taking a hammering for being a so so journalist but I have to ask, what game was he watching??

"The hosts, who used right wing Youssouf Hershi to dismantle the Phoenix defence on the left flank with relative ease past Reece Caira, should have gone into halftime at least 3-0 up had left wing Mark Bridge picked up the far post"

Caira did a reasonable job of making sure that the overrated Hersi did stuff all.

"He complimented his Beefeaters ... Durante, Sigmund, Bertos, Moss, before the second half ascendency..."

At least he's good for a laugh. English as is writ by journos from the Anglo/Indian old school.

"At the end of the drive the lawmen arrive...

I'll take my chance because luck is on my side or something...

Her name is Rio, she don't need to understand...

Oh Rio, Rio, hear them shout across the land..."

Yeah Hersi wasn't up to much really, but WSW rightly could've been up 3-0. Also in saying that it could've as easily ended 3-3.

I get a bit tired of people saying "they could have been x goals up if they'd taken their chances" all the time. We're in the a-league where we don't have world class finishers who are going to finish everything, so in every game there are going to be chances that are taken and chances that are squandered. The aim is to create enough chances to be able to convert some of them. So saying they created more chances than the other team is cool, but then assuming that means they should have been X-0 up, is a bit pointless imo.

If Ernie wore a pink and purple crushed velvet suit and a lime green top hat with a peacock feather in it then WSW would have been dazzled into submission and we would have won 12-0. The fact no journalist picked up on that shows how bad football reporting is in this country.

pretty crappy reporting when he should really be focussing on the buzz and excitement of having the nix in Napier. Why focus on the assumed negative of a 1-1 draw vs last years champs?

Or could drop Boxall and be very agressive with his bench selections.

Based on nothing but the timing of Hicks getting a contract, I assume if Fenton is indeed back, Hicks is also likely to be in the squad for Sunday.

IMO Hicks was signed on performance alone - not timing.

I hear he did have surgery on his wrist in the off season, hence the cast in the first game, maybe that is holding him back

I expect to see the same line up we started against WSW, except maybe Louie replacing Leo. If the Jets can expose Kenny/Caira as well, then its obvious that it just wont work. Starting Hicks to strengthen the midfield would feel like giving the Jets a little too much respect.

Aussie, 3/6 games he has reffed have involved the Nix. They seem to be sending over the young refs to do the NZ games now. I know people didn't like O'Leary but our win % under him is above our average (P18 W10 D4 L4)

The Welnix seem to be telling the media that if there is a good turnout more "home/ away" games can be expected.

Our pleas have been taken on board then.....

Can we have OUR Phoenix back please?

Seriously?
Do they not realise that there is a massive novelty factor in these games for those local crowds - if you do too many you lose that entirely and you lose the base in wellington as well. It's a lose/lose situation.

I think there is a place for home/away games and I'm ok with a small number but they need to be very careful how they do it or risk lower crowds on all fronts.
