Carlos, Kenny and Paul when he came on all covered a truck load of distance today.

Kenny in particular came back many time to help out the full backs.

JV, those imports, and even the kiwi "striker" - none of them are out and out strikers

a bunch of converted wide front three players and no-one bossing the middle

I thought Kenny did a lot of walking back in the first half. Maybe Ernie ripped into him about that at the halftime break.

I appreciated the way we lumped all the goal kicks skyward, it gave me a chance to take the kids to the toilet before the ball came down again.

Interesting tactics considering we have no-one who can head the ball, up against Beuchamp and Torpor Stanley

Haha! Iiked that!

Re: Moss, thought  his distribution was poor at times. I can recall Kenny yelling at Moss to throw him the ball, as he was in acres of space, but Mossy opted to kick and we lost the ball.

Crowd was meh.

A fantastic day in the city. Was plenty of coverage in the build up.

Pretty disappointing really.

And there was some f*cking stupid music played during the football.  Hang the DJ.

It was an awesome day weather wise, The game, on the rare occassion that fucktard of a referee actually allowed it to flow, was decent enough. Both sides had their chances. It was certainly more watchable than the hoofball of the past.

I think it is time we all e-mailed David Dome and had that village fucken idiot in the sunnys fired. Rugby has music, Cricket has music, football does NOT have it, want it or need it. So just pack up your CD's, your sunnys and fuck off you idiot. You ruined CHCH and now you are ruining the ROF.

I shall revisit this as I think more about the game. GET RID of the Stupid fucken music.

there were also several times were kenn had bolted down the left wing and didn't receve the ball when he had the same, very frustrating game to watch.

Maybe we should make it 3 points for a goal and 1 for an almost goal (on the sides) - that would make it more entertaining. Power play as well.

How about 6pts for a goal and 1pt for a near miss. No need for Power Plays.
We could call it New Zealand Rules Football

And take that pesky cross bar off, it just seems to make things harder trying to get it under that as well.

Can someone explain the music situation to me - was music actually being played during the game?  In al seriousness, I would stop going if that was the case (and I was stil living in Wellington), music during a sports game is a genuine deal breaker for me

That's tantamount to saying the game people have turned up to watch isn't entertaining enough on its own - why should anyone genuinely bother turning up if that's the case?  Plus it just kills the atmosphere.  I don't know a single person who wants to hear some music during a game.  Really need to express how bad that is to Phoenix mgmt

I only noticed the music once but it was terrible. Inaudible- I don't know what song it was meant to be, and randomly timed. God knows who is behind it. Chch was a shocker. We are turning into T20

I remember one scene, Cunningham was running forward, so fast you could see just a blur of him, Carlos looked left, looked right, danced with the ball and gone was the chance...

The first time it came on during play, it seemed like it was just a mistake. But then it happened after the ball went out for a goal kick and didn't stop when the ball was put back into play. And again. And again.

Exact same thing happened in Christchurch. I really hope that this isn't a directive from the club, because they should be saying the exact opposite (i.e. no music from the first whistle of the half until the last whistle).

The pre-match music drowned out the chanting from the Zone as well, surely the chanting etc is one of the drawcards of football, and if people wanted to listen to music they would go and watch rugby or a T20 borefest.

I think the ground announcer guy is new this year. The last guy went overseas. I'm sure the club will listen. We've set Hard News on them.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Yeah the music was bad, the only one I really remember was that really annoying song that goes "I like the way you move" it was really miscued so he had to play it for several seconds until it got to that line and then shut it off and therefore was during the game.

But I agree it was stupid, speaking of stupid - anyone hear the RBB chants? I couldn't make out the words most of the time but half of them seemed to be about the RBB and not the team (bla bla bla bla bla RBB...)

Anyone know about the injury situation? Hernandez and RIera were subbed for Injury, and Ifill was limping after a couple of nasty tackles.

I doubt they even realise there is a football match going on in front of them 99% of the time.

I know you guys must be fed up with another draw but I thought it was a good game. Scrappy at times and too many loose passes but also some nice interplay. Thought Fenton showed good touches and Huysegems put himself about. Hernandez looked off-colour, what a miss in front of goal. But nevertheless an enjoyable game to watch for an outsider. Boyd lifted things up front when he came on. I think the Phoenix are starting to gel as a passing unit and when they get it right they're dangerous. I like what Merrick is doing and hope he gets the chance to see his vision through. The pity is that Ifill is near the end of his career, his late fast reaction shot showed what you're missing. Someone who is accurate and can shoot quickly. Cunningham has pace but he's not going to bag a lot of goals because he seems to get too wound up. Still not convinced about Brockie.

I still think Tade is the kind of fast tricky striker who could slot in up front for you guys and would score goals once he finds his feet in the A League. Anyway, lets hope you break the win drought in Perth.
