Can the date be changed to not the 8th? I'd really like to come but it's my birthday...

That makes no sense. I still don't understand what benefit a young up and coming female footballer is going to get by training with a professional mens team. I still don't actually understand why the competition is open to female entries?

Well if she was training with Syndey FC and Seb Ryall was still there...

Wouldn't a female footballer get the same benefit as a male footballer, the chance to train in a professional environment for a week?

As some have said earlier, this is not about being a scout for the 'Nix more at giving a deserving young footballer a wonderful experience that will hopefully be beneficial in their future endeavours.

You've got to be mindful of the way a player would fit into training though.

I mean, Hard News would, by your logic, get the same benefit - but even if he was 18 again he wouldn't be a chance to win.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

That is why you and Ricki would select the best of both the female and male finalists. An extremely talented female football player would not be ridiculously out of depth from training with the 'Nix, a full international like Renee Leota. We could be helping out the next Marta!

At the moment it seems that why bother with allowing female entrants, you expect them not to get enough votes to get to the final few where you will have to show your true colours and not select them no matter how deserving or talented they are.

Save them the hassle of entering and getting their hopes up and make it that they must be male, i.e. eligible to be selected for a youth spot in the 'Nix, not just meet the age criteria.

Agree to an extent.  We are open to some phenomenal female talent coming along and winning, but she'd have to be the next Marta.

Really? I think you would find that even the very best woman footballers in NZ would be well off the level of even fringe Nix players.

Three for me, and two for them.

Think Renee wouldn't look completely out of her depth.

Most others would though.

So she'd be good enought to make the squad, hypothetically speaking.

I've been reading this forum, and thoroughly enjoyed it!!!!!!..This opportunity is soo exciting for the winner. As Sam Rausch's mum I just wanted to add a little to it all....It seems no-one really knows Sam but he lives and breathes foootball. He is currently the under 7's coach for Upper Hutt (during which he makes them play netball as they wont pass!!), really frustrating for a 19yr old!!!!!!...he refs indoor footy on a tues and wed and privatly coaches a couple of friends kids anytime he can!...He would be a very grateful and worthy winner!!!!!!

Completely disagree, is there any female footballer in Wellington who could keep up in Capital Premier?

If there was would they be given a chance.

I have coached womens and mens soccer at highschool levels and have seen a couple girls who would atleast technically give the boys a run for their money.

But i don't think the sporting heirachy would let them play in the boys comp if they wanted to.. fears of them getting hurt or something.

I know its probably already been decided but id just like to say how good Tristan Prattley was for Dunedin Tech yesterday. Running a line on his side for the first half, i got to see just how good he was. His long balls forward were inch perfect, his communication with a young left mid was superb, just little hints and affermations here and there. He held his position well and never once got beaten. And of course a screamer of a goal from about 10 yards outside the box.

Just as well he was good, I'd hate to think we gave it to a donkey.

Winners Spragg and Prattley (we made a bit too much money on t-shirts this year so we decided we'd splash out).

How's my driving? - Whine here
