I think most of us are judging him on the attack this year (seeing as he's in charge of it apparently) and we haven't exactly been putting heaps in the back of the net. But you're right, without Ricki he might be amazing?

So not "Director of Football"? The word "sinecure" leaps to mind. Ricki will get a title, a small paycheque, be asked to write reports every month or two, but is otherwise out on his ass.

And I still want to know how Frankie Mac over on Knifecrime Island, EU, knows that Ricki had lost the dressing room. Perhaps he's linked to the Phoenix Underground and they tell him things.

Thanks Ricki for taking the team 1 game from the grand final, the 6-0 win over GCU and Paul Ifill.  I've not been pleased with your efforts this season. But appreciate your passion for the club and committment (when not being paid).  Could have waited till the end of the season for this to happen, but hopefully the team can pull together.

Yes, but your "I told you so" gloating makes it clear that you're a twunt.

Well that will rule out any decent Oz coach options. They won't have anything to do with RH hovering around. Brings Neil Emblen right into it.

Pretty sure "football technical advisor" is more to do with helping the board to understand the layout of the game in NZ. It'll be nothing to do with the first team I'm sure.

this is my thinking rather than a technical director of football. Maybe the board should ask him what the role should be in his role of Technical Advisor to the board!!!

Well considering he was paid out in the first place when he made his prediction, then came back and basically said that his sources were good (and it was not an 'I told you so' message) and you pay him out again.....
Thats why.

Grumpy old bastard alert

Not gloating, as I deliberately didn't argue a huge defence when everyone said it was b*llocks yesterday.
Just asking for some credit for a little info.

I'm happy this has happened as he can concentrate and ensuring we get to Brazil next year.  I'm very thankful for the work he did with the Knights and Nix and ensuring that we kiwi's have a decent pro team but as many of us have said many times his tactics are one dimensional and the A-League has finally got the better of him.  I'm sure he'll coach/manage in the A-League again though.

(Arsene will be joining him very soon as another who has overstayed his tenure)

He can't do any wrong in your eyes can he Doloras even when the stats say otherwise?

"Twunt!" is an expression of frustration when your employer locks you in an office with a read-only internet access and a phone that does not work.  :-)

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

"Gareth Morgan wears adult diapers" kind of stuff? "Terry's money really was coming but John Morrison sabotaged the deal to get rid of him" stuff?

Anyway, JV, I didn't "pay" Shabba out when he came round the first time, I said "it might be true", so I want an apology, thanks.

Yeah, agreed we hven't been scoring many but we've been getting in positions to. Attacking coach will be coaching them on how to get into scoring positions, which we have been. The actual finishing needs more one on one coaching.

Nobody knows how good or bad a coach he is, except the players. He's only gonna be coach till the end of the season anyway, I expect.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Fair play to Shabba. I for one called bullshit on it and I stand corrected. Interesting though, I have not yet read anywhere yet that has quoyed anything other than the good old "reliable sauces".

My comment still stands with regards to what sort of agent would tell this to  someone who told someone else!

I'll only sell mine when we win the club solar system cup and beat Sparta Jupiter 3-1 in 2080, when they'll be worth something. Mind you I'll just be one of those heads like in Futurarma by then.

Ricki's role as Football Technical Advisor to the Board sounds like Terry's role as Honourary Founding Patron i.e. a role in name only. I wouldn't worry about him exerting too much influence on the new coach, if he takes the role at all.

Sad day really. Love him or hate him he's such a huge part of the Phoenix. I suspect he'll be missed in lots of ways that we haven't even really thought about.

But yays, we finally get to jump aboard the international coaching merry-go-round. I look forward to the club burning through half a dozen B-grade Aussies over the next 8 years.
