If the bank on the south side of Newtown Park was terraced, it would be ideal for the pre-season games, in terms of size for the expected crowd.

I'd have thought the pre-season game attendances would be even better in our second season.

I'm sure they will be, but there will be a thousand or more in the Scotsman's stand at the top too.

We were talking about taking the pre-season games around the country Tawa, so Newtown seems to be as far away as people will tolerate...!!

yea i know i was joking just throwing it around since canberras been the talk and its off season and its the time when people get bored and throw these silly ideas out there.
yea newtown park or for money basin reserve bring back the days of old and the history and give a bit of publicity and an afternoon game and be a nice central venue bring the family along and that be much better. newtown park never done anything for me since olympic been ringing that annoying sh*t bell.

ha! basin a good option because of the better pitch quality. no atmosphere though, because everyone needs a hubble telescope to even see the players from the stands.

nearly closer than newtown park or the stadium - newtown because the track and stadium just because of shear size. newtown park is rubbish - rubbish location

Selfish and proud of it.

The home games have to stay at home in Welly, or else the Ozzies will put OUR CLUB in Darwin or some other part of the penal colony.

Perhaps Mr Terry will build a proper 80,000 seater Wellington Phoenix football stadium, in a couple of years, after we are back to back champions. After all he's sitting on a massive land bank.

Football is a party and where in NZ is there such a large party zone within a $1.00 or $2.00 bus ride from the Stadium, even some ozzie stadiums can not compete. Remember the game is nothing with out the Fans. Wellington is the home of NZ football now. Long may it live

I live and work in Auckland and as a football reporter, it's very hard to cover the Phoenix from up here. It would make my job a lot easier if they played a few games up here, But there is absolutely NO way the Phoenix should consider, or feel obliged to play matches away from Welllington, ESPECIALLY not in Auckland.

Apart from the small group of diehard fans who turned up week after week, Auckland fans were pathetic in their support of the two previous franchises and frankly, don't deserve another chance.

Wellington fans have taken this opportunity with both hands and should be able to watch their team play every week. If, like other premiership sides that've been mentioned earlier in the forum, the Phoenix want to play pre-season games in other centres in a bid to build support in other areas, then that's a sensible business move. But any suggestion the Phoenix have a responsibility to be a 'New Zealand' team is rubbish.

I'm sure there something in the paper a few days ago (albeit at the foot of an article) that all Phoenix A league games were confirmed for Wellington...
