As an avid watcher of The Crowd Goes Wild. It is again frustrating that they fail to even mention the A League. They had highlights of about 6 EPL games and Killen in the Scottish Premier League as well. But failed to mention the Nix, or show any coverage of any games.

I cannot find a contact email for them to vent my frustrations. If someone knows one, it would be appreciated.

Still an awesome show.

Erm the draw was done way in advance,we've established theyre talking sh*t on this already. Yet they still lie

In this instance, they are not lying. They are not saying the draw was done late, they are saying their decision to include them in their scheduling was made late. Don't forget that Sky's original plan was to scale back on previous seasons and not use their A-League rights to give us any non-Nix games at all.

I don't understand why, for example, this coming weekend sees a 7 day old repeat screening of last weekend's Tottenham-Birmingham match (SS3 2:30am-4:30am) instead of using that slot to give us a more timely broadcast of one of the three A-League matches being skipped.

Thats just taking the piss out of the customer with a play on words though isnt it? Theyre either lying or playing him for a fool. Either way,not cool.

Not really - it's been clear since the start of the season that their original stance was to only show Nix games. When they got complaints about that, they revised the decision and added the non-Nix matches.

What we're complaining about is that they falsely said we'd get two live matches each week (two out of four rounds only, so far) and that when they said they'd give us delayed coverage of the others, the delay is unreasonable.

There is also the contention that they make it sound as if they never had the rights to the other games initially, which is an apparent lie.

playing schedule and broadcasting schedule are two differant issues. if you accept that sky were never intending to show anything but the nix games live then you have to concede putting the other games into the schedule was a last minute decision.

They did a "Shane Smeltz vs The Phoenix" segment a little while ago. Don't know if they continued with it or not.

Just saw the September issue of the Sky magazine and flicked through the A-League listings. It's August all over again. We get two live games a week. Of the remainder, one game during the whole month is delayed by less than 12 hours. The rest are delayed two, three or four days.

Oh and the coverage of the U20s World Cup is limited too. Of the 20 games that take place in September, two are being shown. The opening match (Egypt v Trinidad & Tobago) plus Australia v Czech Republic.

I bitch and complain to Sky at least once a week...keeps on em on their toes

and they tell me that

SKY TV is committed to showing coverage of the A-League. From October all Hyundai A-League games will be scheduled LIVE if possible or delayed later the same day. (taken fron an email earlier today)

Wonderfully succinct summary.

As one who cant be farked, I do recall discussion around the option of increasing broadband allowance and watching games thay way.

Any idea of the relative cost of this compared with monthly subs for SKY?

[/QUOTE]

Can you give me an idea of who your current broadband plan is with?.  I gave up all Sky two years ago and now have a 40GB plan with Telstra.  I pay no more than I did two years ago with a 5GB plan and Sky/Sky Sports.  I am struggling to use my 40GB a month, really need 30GB or a plan where you pay as you go.  Streaming uses little of my datacap, I guess I could watch all the a league matches each weekend and use between 1 and 1.5 GB.

Thanks.  We are just joining the 21st century and looking into this Broadband thingy (since our valve operated babbage adding machine has been going slower than slow and we have decided to buy one of those new "computers" that we see in the newspapers so often).

Our current home phone and dial-up is about $15 cheaper than the basic 1 GB Broadband and phone with Telstra and $25 cheaper than 5GB+phone.

Streaming, datacap?  Sorry you've lost me there.

Well I think other broadcasting networks should take notice of this and perhaps bid for the rights in the near future. Whats the point of SKY securing rights and promising the promotion of A-league then turn around and play only a couple of live games and delayed for the rest. OTHER NETWORKS HERE OUR CALL lolz

Ok Junior 82 I will do my best.
A data cap is the amount of information you are allowed to download and upload to and from the internet.  For example, if you watch a Phoenix game on your computer you are downloading from the internet the picture and the sound.  With the two plans that you quoted from Telstra, you would be able to watch 3 games a month with a 1GB data cap and 15 games a month with a 5GB data cap, assuming you did nothing else on the internet.  Of course the problem is once you start doing this stuff, you find more and more things and you need a larger data cap.
A stream is just the tv programme that you are watching on your computer.
If you are going to watch a couple of A league games a week, 5GB should be fine.  Telstra have a meter service which shows how much of your data cap you use over the month, it is worth keeping an eye on this to see what you use.  One warning would be the quality will not be as good as on tv.  However as it isn't usually on tv until days after.......Feel free to PM me if you want any more info.

One of the reasons Sky have the A-League broadcasting rights is they are the ones who show up at the ROF and broadcast it to Austrailia for thier networks. lot of work for  a new broadcaster to pick up.

Once we are properly hooked onto the info superhighway (as opposed to our current country lane limited speed zone) I'll start asking annoying questions to you veterens about where to get the latest A-league games because SKY aren't showing them.

Might be in a week's time when the remit gets passed by the Household politburo.

Don't know about Rumpole!!.I was thinking more Alan Shore,... or Denny Crane at worst
anyway, enough legal-ese,  tort i might get back to topic.. and good luck with your broadband decisions.

This NBR article last month on Tivo ..didn't realise TVNZ were behind it...and also
Sky's MySky customers can now remote access and set their players.

www.nbr.co.nz/article/sky-tv-gazumps-tivo-with-remote-recording-107225

No excuse if we aren't home or away on holiday. We can do it all on mobile or via a website.
Don't forget to set your decoders to record tonight's game... and the highlights too.
Be positive, of course there'll be highlights!

Yeah sunday is rubbish, there is no way that should be happening ever. The fact the games are delayed by 3 days again is almost just as shocking.

According to the Sky Magazine in the hotel I'm in, we are getting two live games each weekend for the rest of the month. The remaining games are mostly given three day delays, sometimes two and sometimes four.

You may have noticed SKY have introduced remote recording. Which means if you have MySky, you can set your decoders from your PC, and coming soon from your mobile.

Go to their site to set it up.

So in terms of viewning figures,  no excuse now if you forget to set the Thursday morning Perth v Fury (for example)
