Where is your faith?
I don't think the Nix will be live as the BC's will come back.

this was never really going to be a huge problem, when have the black caps takien aussie to 5 days in a test - certainly not in recent history - think McGrath said back in the day that the aussies always booked a golf day for day 5 when they toured here.

Perhaps, but most of the afternoon was washed out, and we have recovered somewhat.

I agree- put it on Prime live, and then advertise it a little. 20 k in ChCh and Aucks. 35k in Welly for the finals.

The club should be on the phone to Sky.

All away games should be live and all home games delayed... A-League should craft their deal in this manner right across the league. They want to grow don't they?

Yes, and delayed rights are worth a lot less than live rights, and considering the financial state of the FFA shown in the Smith report, they need all the cash they can to grow.

So, that means no, right? If delayed rights are worth a lot less and we want the FFA to grow financially, then we don't want Sky to only purchase delayed broadcasting rights to home games (or any games).

Not that this tangent is relevant - Sky have purchased live rights. They're hardly entitled to claim back a refund from the FFA for those games they then broadcast on delay.

I was answering the question in the last line, (they want to grow?), and giving my reasons why all live coverage is the way to go.

Agreed it has nothing to do with this game being delayed by the broadcaster though.

I can see why they haven't chosen to show the Phoenix. Some games have got as low as a 16,000 viewing audience while most get around 30,000. The cricket got more than that yesterday and it was a weekday. The golf and the hockey are one off events so I can see why they have been given precedence. It is disappointing but it is not like we can't find online streams.

sauce for the viewing figures you've provided? is the 16k the night of the rwc final?

A couple of years ago all Warriors games used to be live on Sky1 (Box), surely Sky can play this game on a different channel, or as has been suggested, Prime.

I only pay for Sky for A-League and EPL and this makes me an angry Homie
I cancelled sky after end of last season aleague, have not renewed it - now watch Nix games online - the only reason I had sky was for the aleague - when I rang to cancel it I ha dthe intention to renew it for start o fthis season - the perosn at sky asked why i was cancelling it and I said because it is crap, I then said I will renew it when football season starts again, and he said to me if it's crap why would you want to renew it! phuck him - so I havent renewed it.

I cancelled Sky at the beginning of this year. The final breaking point was when they shifted ESPN to the pay sports package. I really miss Champions League and Spanish football but I am not paying $900+ per annum to watch 30 football games. IMO they are arrogant and treat their customers like sh*t. Just because they have a monopoly they think they can do whatever they like. So now it is live streaming or Three Kings.
One day the whole sports broadcasting market will be bust open and you will get pay per game high quality internet broadcasting.....I will then happily dance on SkyTV's grave.

Not at all - still get to see the games I want to   and save $$ at the same time . But if you are happy about the way you get looked after by sky and the service they provide - then by all means be their customer .chchnix2011-12-03 12:21:49

I'm sorry but yes. Yes they can do whatever pleases them because they know that most of us won't do anything about it. Who are you gonna go to? freeview ? I think not.

The Eden Park game http://www.throng.co.nz/ratings/tv-ratings-19-november-2011. That was, as far as I can tell, an all time low. Lots of people probably watching the news during that time didn't help.

I suspect the low Sky numbers would more than likely have been due to the vast majority of those who watch Wellington's games on TV being at Eden Park in person.

Yeah I was going to mention this too,

But it will be fobbed off by Sky. Nothing you can do about it other than watch it online and deprive the league of funds.

Is this the sky sport magazine with Ross Taylor on the cover. On the cover says "Wellington Phoenix: the Comedy". Whats the gist of the article?

At least SKY have used their brains and are showing the Sydney vs Roar game delayed after the Phoenix game, I was gutted that I was going to miss it due to the Nix being on at the same time.

The first game of hockey today has been delayed due to rain, Nix v Sydney replay on atm.  If it keeps raining, maybe we might get today's game live I hope.

Here's hoping! Being played in Auckland I'm guessing? The rain doesn't look like it will clear anytime soon: http://www.metservice.com/national/maps-rain-radar/rain-radar/all-new-zealand

Also, the Black Caps are doing their bit again. Just lost another wicket in the second over of the day... Could end up with the football shown on two channels to fill in dead air!

And another! 90% chance we will get the game live now

And another! 4 down!patrick4782011-12-04 12:40:15
