This is a bit sh*t. The live streams will be so congested to will be like watching stop motion animation - in slow motion.

Its no longer a problem.

Could they not just put it on the sky sports highlights channel?

Reasonable chance we will have rolled the Aussies in the cricket by the afternoon of day 4 so no need to worry about it!

How about playing the hockey delayed instead? surely the Nix get higher ratings than hockey matches?

Probably not but what is the start of a test match summer without a bit of misplaced optimism?

This is a bit sh*t. Don't suppose it would be a possibility for them to play it live on the Highlights Channel. Doubt it will happen, but surely couldn't be that much of a hassle

Is it NZ playing in the Hockey at that time or one of the other matches?

It's nz. It's just horrible luck. I do actually think international sport where nz is playing should take preference. Even though I personally can't stand hockey. The nz golf open is a one off event that will easily rate higher, not to mention they would've paid more for the rights.

Would isky still be playing it live? (may fix the problem for some people at least)Tegal2011-11-29 13:28:37

It's nz.

NZ from 5-6, the other match from 6 onwards. Even watching the Phoenix delayed by an hour wouldn't be as bad. Hopefully Sky will swap the Nix and Netherlands vs Germany around.

Based on past happenings,I suspect they'd prefer to wait until the game is over before loading it for broadcast. It must be something they have to do.

(I know absolutely nothing about how it works - it's just the way they've always done it,so figure it's because they have to)

Also live sport should take preference over a delayed game. Why delay the hockey just to play a delayed nix game. 830 is pretty reasonable, and is the earliest time they can play it.

We'll roll Australia for 27 anyway.

New Zealand sport should take preference over non-New Zealand sport.

I disagree Patrick. No matter what they're playing the game delayed, there is no sense in bumping a live game just to play a delayed game an hour earlier.

I made one at the beginning of last season or the one before because of sh*t coverage. Left it behind after round 1.

Pretty sure that's not the case. I remember at least one occasion when they showed 'delayed' coverage that started before the actual match had finished.

Then I suggest the don't see the sense in bumping a live game just to play a delayed game an hour sooner. I don't actually blame sky for this one.

Who do you blame then? The FFA for not checking the hockey schedules before they made the fixtures?

Do you think if it was a Super 15 game or even a Warriors game that your 'international sport' argument would still be the case and the game would be delayed? I don't.

I for one would rather watch delayed coverage knowing that the game was actually still going on rather than delayed coverage knowing that the game finished about 45 minutes earlier.

that ends the international sport argument

better to go with @skysportnz.

What would happen if we were playing at home? would they still have delayed the game?

Pretty disappointed it won't be live.

The fact that the hockey is the champions trophy and we are hosting it is a fairly big deal as far as hockey goes. Maybe sky is contractually obligated to show all games live being the host broadcaster?
Permalink Permalink

are they not contracted to show the a-league live too, or at least the nix games....I realise there is international sport on at the asme time but showing a fishing show at 8pm instead of getting the nix on early just reeks
