Today's match we departed from our usual and chose the Pascall "Lolly Scramble" pack.  At $2 on special (either Countdown or New World) is is a tad more expensive then the "Party Pack" on a per gram basis (200 g and 220 g prespectively).  Also there are more wrappers to dispose of later when emptying your pockets.

The Lolly Scramble has pretty much a selection for everyone's taste (fruit bursts, milk shakes, toffees, minties), while the Party Pack contains a wider range including snakes, blackberry gums and jelly beans.

For the next match I think we will stick with the Lolly Scramble.

Unless it is full retail in which case we will see what else is on special.

Kudos for giving it a go. It has improved a lot since the time you were basing your complaints on. Still not exactly gourmet, but I find them quite nice.

You asked me to and I obliged. A bit pricey for what you got but imho it scored big marks on the lettuce and tomato being very very fresh. Might have a chi ken one at the Victory game and see how thag goes. The Fritz sausages still lead for yummyness though.

Mezzanine Bar

...is awesome. Right anyway, went to the AFL last night, first event I had been to since the Mezzanine bar opening, so decided we would grab a couple of beers and food there before kick-off. I went for the Yorkshire pudding, most others had the Chicken Burgers (Photomac also got a Chicken Salad, and another guy got a Steak Baguette). All the food seemed to get a ringing endorsement, I read in the paper earlier this week that Tegal was not impressed with the Tui on tap. Well no Tui last night (Though Speights had some taps), also had Triple Hop Pilsner, Crafty Beggars Pale Ale, Macs Gold (THere was something else too).

I didn't see the Pulled Pork Rolls anywhere, but were supposedly out there, with food carts placed around the Stadium (Weiners in aisle 14), also new ones with Steak Baguettes it was looking pretty good. Definitely think Shane Harmon and crew are sending the place in the right direction.

If you get a chance to get into the Mezzanine bar before/during a game definitely try the food there. Recommend it to anyone.

Note: Beer - The beer on tap at the Bar will depend on what the Brewery + Team choose, so whoever hires the stadium and their partners get to decide what is on tap. Westpac are pushing for a greater variety and hoping that they can get better selections in as well.

No, I care more about the fan enjoyment at the game. The Fun Police and the ultra loud friggen music are my other concerns. You may not agree with me but at least I am trying to improve things by being vocal than shutting up and accepting substandard stadium treatment.

maybe you should stay home . . nothing to complain about then . ha

Anyone game to taste the pulled pork rolls?

Food and options do seem to have improved, no doubt about that.

At the AFL game, it was a long walk from aisle 4 to find some food as nothing was open round there, despite that being the place they stuck all the kids, and then the queues were too long so didn't bother.

I did walk to the stadium bar where there were no queues at half time , but there was no Heinie as usual, so had Steinie.

Hmm at least they are moving in the right direction but those beers are just pretend craft beers.

With two games today, I gave the new stadium food a go.

Before the start I had a pulled pork sandwich from the BBQ Cart near Aisles 25/26.

$9.00 for a ciabata bun, pulled pork fresh of the hot plate, coleslaw (quality stuff) and apple sauce and onions, plus I added some mustard. I ate it looking out the new windows at a beautiful Wellington day on the leaners near the windows downstairs from the mezzanine bar.

Verdict: I defy anyone, even Steve-o to bitch about that. Really good quality, reasonably priced. I was very happy. And compared to the previous items known as stadium food, I think the people who were given the brief for upping the stadium's menu quality and value for money should step forward and take a bow.

Then, after the first game we went up to the Mezzanine bar. I would have had a beer, but I got hit by a taxi on Thursday and have a broken collar bone and a fractured skull, so I was keeping off the alcohol. The mezzanine bar was an absolute slam dunk winner. The Italian meatballs, the burritos and the Nasi goreng all looked very good. I tried the chicken schnitzel burger, with avocado, onions, bacon and chutney. Damn! It was really good. Also $9.00.

The kids I were with had sushi, and said it was great.

In my opinion, the stadium's new food offerings are just plain outstanding.

Well done all involved.

The mezzanine view was bigger than I expected and view was really good.

To be honest I haven't moaned about the food there THAT much apart from when I got a cold cup of chips once...

Didn't have any but food choices looked good in general.

Given how packed the bar was, it really is unbelievable that it wasn't established earlier

I've actually just remembered I got a free pint in the mezzanine because the eftpos wasn't working! Not a bad score...mezzanine FTW!

haha all they had to do was enter the eftpos themselves. It didn't work when I went up, the staff didn't realise, so I was honest and entered $9 into the eftpos machine, before swiping card and entering pin.

Should've just told them it wasn't working and got a free pint damn it.
