Ticket prices - Student Id - weekly angst

The ID checking was total f**king bullsh*t. I had my ID so I was fine for it, but my sister almost got kicked out cause she didn't have hers on her. FFS she's 14 and looks it, and she had a family membership pass, she's a f**king child either way. And I'm not sure if this happened to anyone else but the ticket guard actually took my pass and scanned the barcode himself! I'm not f**king retarded!! The ticket guards were just plain rude and made a scene over f**king nothing, it's so much better when they aren't glaring at you as you walk in and harrassing poor kids for IDs.

Seriously, I don't know why everyone is going onabout that link Hard News posted. I did NOT buy a double pass!

I will scan the ticket on here if that's what it takes - it was $32 + $2 booking fee = $34.

I looked at the prices a couple of times because I had $30 in my hand and was surprised when I was asked for $34.

Except the link clearly shows that prices are cheaper if anything. Maybe the person behind the till took a tip for themselves

yeah it was just a bit frustrating as I could completely see how this lady was feeling. Being told to go away or buy a new ticket. Ouch.

Yeah I wasn't at the last game either so lucky I keep mine on me.
I may email someone about it just so they can keep us members in the loop. it seems the easiest way to do it.

Yeah I just checked it myself. Very strange. Ticketek's website are charging $6 less than what they are charging at the gate!

I know where I'll be getting my tickets next time then...

$5 booking fee when you buy from ticketek

The prices quoted on the link are for TWO tickets, as a deal. You could NOT buy a $21 ticket for one game as it infers on that link. You had to buy the pack.

Hmmm, also quite steep in that case.

I just do not recall paying over $30 before.

Ah well, for various reasons that will be my last game until mid-January so I don't need to worry about it!

Edit - I am actually almost certain that prices earlier in the season were $28 + $2 fee and last season they were $25 + $2-3 fee? Isn't that right?

It's definitely never been $32+$2 until tonight, and gold tickets now $40+$2 - were gold tickets not $35+$2 before??

Ummm A) how is security supposed to know that she has been a member since season 1.

She could've been ripping the club off since season 1 also for all they know.

And B) thats not even relevant.

People might take you more seriously without the swearing. ID is always an annoying thing, but it's the same if you catch a bus, or go to film, just have it on you. It has been a very public issue about people using child tickets when they're an adult, so I can easily see why they were checking.

Didn't you say you are using a 2007 Student ID on another thread? Are you actually a student or are you ripping the club off?

Meanwhile, the club are ripping me off...$34 I tell ya!

I was actually a student when i bought the pass. Just didn't renew my ID card. It would still be valid if i had renewed it. So no im not ripping anyone off.

I would explain the above to any security if they pulled me up on it,but if they still insisted I paid the difference then I wouldn't complain any further,as it is my own fault and they aren't to know my situation nor do they have to believe it (if they believed everyone then they may as well not check ID)

You can quote me on that.Tegal2010-11-24 23:14:41

Sorry it was just a real pain. I agree that it's good of them to check, but they shouldn't be making such a big deal over people who actually do look like kids. Personally I rarely carry ID on me unless it's for movies where I wouldn't otherwise be able to get in.

So why is it ok for movie theatres to do it but as soon as stadium staff do you swear every second word?

At movie theatres it's to show you're old enough to get in and it's sort of the law for them to check. I've never had to go through this kind of hassle at the stadium and I've never before had to prove that I'm young enough to get into something.
And I swore 5 times, big deal.

Because at the movies, you get a refund if you don't have ID --- Don't quote me on that I'm presuming Tegal will answer that and at the stadium you wouldn't even though you are a student who just forgot ID.

But adults have been using child tickets. They are checking them to stop this happening more.

yeah its fair enough to do it, just as I said earlier, they just need to give us warning.

You know when you go to an r rated movie that you may get checked, just like you know when your buying alki that you mite get checked, and obviously now we gotta inform people that its the same for nix games.

Its just the informing part that pisses me off, as there was nothing but apart from what happened at the last game.. i think..?

The fact that they are so strict on it, so early on, without giving their members headsup, is what gets me really

Is it not just common sense that the same principle would apply if you were to buy a childs ticket for something?

I think people are annoyed because its never happened before (though it should have). While I can understand this,it is a bit of a transition period that had to happen at some point.

Theyve been pretty good and let some people in with ID's by the sound of it.

Live and learn.

Kiwichick this isn't a personal attack, but all I'm saying is this is to stop people from ripping off the club, and on many occasions I have been asked to show ID to get in to an event for the sole purpose that adults should be paying adult prices.

Hmm technically not. But I guess its good customer service to do it,so we do.

For example,if people buy tickets to a movie, then we catch them sneaking into an R rated movie, then we kick them out without a refund of their original ticket.

If i were the stadium,I'd be making people pay the difference, its not that much, and people will learn their lesson. Its a dangerous thing to be letting some people in with a warning while making others buy a new ticket. Too inconsistent.

yeah just an email that says:

From the 1st of December (or whatever), when entering the stadium, members with chid or student tickets will be have ID's checked to confirm correct ticket purchases. If found with wrong ticket, the option of paying the difference will be avaliable, otherwise there will be no permission to enter.

There will be an integration period for members untill the 1st of Dec, but from then on, the new rules apply.

Yeah I get that and I really do think it's great that they're doing something about this. I'm a kid though anyway and I do look it so it really just gets on my nerves. Also, they could be a little bit nicer in the way that they do it, not looking all accusing and threatening that you'll have to buy a new ticket.

That would've made things a little smoother.

Whether the phoenix just decided not to do that,or whether security needed to tell the phoenix they were doing that (though why would they from their perspective) I guess we will never know. Im guessing the latter.

I imagine people would still be moaning even if the email went out though.

Well great that Kiwichick and sister are supporting the Nix and great they both did get in - how gutting would it have been if they'd not ben let in or how annoying if they had to pay the extra

I can see being challenged and not being used to bring id could have caught them out

don't people agree it would be good if the kids tickets said clearly somewhere that ID would be required at the venue?

maybe Nix/ticketek could do something about that

But it should be obvious....It shouldnt need to be printed on the ticket.

The problem is the sudden change between security not doing their job one week, then doing it the next. Ill admit i thought it was lucky i kept my ID the first time i got checked for it.

Probably should have been posted in the other , similar thread about  adults using kids tickets.

I think the main point Kiwichick is making is the same point I made after the last game, why would you stop a kid going in, using a kids ticket? My 11 year old daughter doesnt have ID (except for her passport), what will happen if she is asked to produce it? will they refuse her admission to the stadium? The crux of the matter is that ADULTS have been using kids tickets. Last time I checked it was perfectly acceptable for a kid to use a kids ticket.

Great game tonight, good vocals from the YF, see you all saturday.

Common sense should really come into it. You cant really criticise someone for asking for ID for a child 16-20 year olds are just as likely to be ripping the club off as obviously older adults.

though 11 would be a little ridiculous as the difference between an 11 year old and a 16 year old is pretty obvious.

For people using Family Passes, do all 4 members have to pass through the turnstiles as a group at the same time? What happens if not all 4 people turn up and does this mean that no one will be allowed through. Those people at the turnstiles need to be told everything! Also, will teh redsters allow kids using adult passes to enter??

These new rules will make sure that fewer people will cheat and also mean that a new sub 5k crowd will be at Phoenix games from now on.
