Elsewhere, the Jets are poised to lose another key player - defender Andrew Durante - who is believed to have agreed terms to join Wellington Phoenix next season. The New Zealand club is also talking to former England international striker Kevin Phillips, who is scoring freely for England's West Bromwich Albion, about a marquee role next season.

Hmmm. Interesting.

Well, at least those are a couple of new names to be added to the "Who will we sign for next season" list.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Kevin Philips... He's the Championship's top scorer and currently with a team that looks very likely for promotion, if we're after him he's going to cost a packet!

Be very surprised if somebody in that kind of form, at that level, would want to come down here. Even if we could afford him.

Great news....even if we don't get Phillips , Durante would be an excellent addition!
Just what we need, an experianced defender!

If the Phoenix are looking for a player with the caliber of Phillips then it shows that we are aiming for the best. Terry frequently said he wants to win the A-League and is prepared to spend big on players to get it.

The offseason transfer period will be very interesting. Also to those current Phoenix players it suggests that they had better perform to the max in the last two games of the season, just to make sure they will be around next year.

But..... it's sunny and warm (perhaps a tad windy on occaision) and not too far from beaches, nice cafe's, lots of sunlight too, the people are friendly and he could live a life where passers-by don't hassle him for missing goals, his kids can walk to school (who am I kidding, kids don't walk to school anymore, they get mum to drop them off in the 4x4), he can buy milk in a glass bottle at the dairy...sounds like bliss really, who'd swap that for one last crack at the Premiership and being paid in pounds?

I think it's reasonably safe to assume that, of the two, Durante would be more likely to come to us than Phillips would.

Gareth Ainsworth is 34 and doing well in the championship. Unlike Elrich, he's a team player and scores some spectacular goals. might be worth it as a Marquee. Still got the speed surprisingly.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Yes please Mr Phillips.

Just checked him out on Wikipedia....only brit to win the European Golden Boot with 30 goals in a Premiier League season....15 goals for West Brom this season. Signed for West Brom for 700,000 pounds in 2005. Will be 35 in July 2008

Sigh!!!.........We can only dream!!

He WAS an OK player, would he be seeing out the end of his career in journeyman fashion like a certain Brazillian at the bling?

If he came with the right attitude he'd be a good signing, but I'd have to question why he would.

Kevin Phillips would be a fantastic addition to the squad, he just keeps on scoring them goals. Highly doubt he'll come though.

I reckon it's all a misunderstanding. It's Andrew Dewhurst and Prince Phillip we're signing
