Next up Alex Brosque and Matt Simon and we'd have every cod except the Racist one.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Based on reports, it should not be Darren Bent at all.

Based on this analysis it could also be David Carney that we are interested in...

Yeah it could be, execpt Carney is not a striker and has not played in 3 top European leagues.

Three for me, and two for them.

Just remember the original article was on Stuff so they probably consider the Championship and Uzbek League as top European Leagues

fits the criteria and has that Newcastle connection with Taylor, however he only just signed on for Lille a few months ago, and the player in question is currently a free agent. I think it has to be Giuseppe Rossi

Remy would be awesome. a little short but a very very good player. A wasted benchwarmer at Chelski.

As much as I've always been a fan of Pepito Rossi, I really hope we don't sign him as his body just isn't up to it.

No one more than me relished in his story, little Italian boy from the States playing in Serie A and for the Azzurri, but he's just had too many injuries and I would spend my money more wisely (also doubt he'd be keen to play in the A-League...).

Remy would be one of our tallest players at 1.85m!

I remember seeing videos of him playing for Marseille before he hit the EPL and thought he was going to be the next Thierry Henry, he really fell off in regards to higher profile clubs and only costed Lille 1.something Mill recently. Remy would light up the league.

So when are we signing Rossi?

Remi was excellent at QPR then Chelski bought him and kept him on the bench. He'd be an awesome signing.

Not a transfer, but I thought Taci Kumsuz looked pretty good in the 30 mins he played for the Weenix. 19, Turkish and (apparently) NZ. Stood out more than Kopa or Way IMO.

Excellent touch, very comfortable on the ball, and nearly scored twice with individual skill. Full bag of tricks - nutmeg, feint, tick-tock, dragback and stepover all sighted, and used because it was the right thing to do (not to show off). Possibly a bit slow.

Will be interesting to see how he goes.

Interesting as I remember reading that WSW were very happy to get rid of him.

I said a WSW fan told me that they would pay us to take him, maybe that is what you are thinking of. Only seen his miss in the YouTube highlights but if that is a sign of things he can do, maybe my sauce is wrong about him.

Sign him with appearance\goal bonus as a key part of the contract. We have to take risks to get talent here

Yeah they are a sharke band and given the backlash against music being played during matches I don't see this transfer happening

Tommy Semmy - CF, 24, PNG.

Serial MVP winner, and two goals in game 1 of the 18/19 Handa. Dribbled past seven for one goal.

9 goals / 3 assists in 15 games. One to watch.

He dominated the All Whites defence in the penalty shootout match the other year, particularly Boxall.

If we won't use a visa slot on Harris, I can't see us using one on him. If/when Krishna gets his citizenship sorted, it sounds like they want a bigger named player signed.

Last time we used that as a basis for signing an OFC player it didn't pan out well

That goal wasn’t as impressive as it seems tbh, the entire defence was running back at the same time, and wouldn’t have happened against anything other than a sub par Handa defense, not to mention his one footedness would totally be exposed. Good player but definitely nowhere near import level. We took a chance with Krishna on an injury contract and it worked, but as a proper visa player, well as stated before we saw what happened to our last unproven National League OFC player...

I don't know what you people are on about 'what happened to our last unproven National League OFC player'.

Krishna is the clubs equal top scorer.

By people you mean one person... I was referring to signing OFC players  based  on performances against the AWs. We (the AWs) don't adjust well to those tournaments in humid places played on mud tracks.

I remember this same argument being used about us signing Roy Krishna.

I'm not saying yes we should sign him, but let's not write off all non-New Zealand OFC players just because the first time we tried that it didn't work out.

Yeah fair enough, I actually even think Totori never got a decent run and wasn't the right sort of player for Ricki's style. And overall, our current strike rate for OFC imports is 50% quality,  which I would say is probably as good as or better than other imports we've had. And national league players have actually generally done well. So I don't think it's the stupidest idea to give him a chance.

Krishna wasn't great in his first season with us and didn't get a lot of minutes, obviously improved for season two though.

Krishna was definitely one of the league's best players, and was signed on an injury replacement contract so little risk, but other than that my bad mate! Didn't want to make it seem derogatory or anything.

If an OFC player pops up and has the same or better credentials at Handa level than Krishna, he's worth a strong look. Just it's not a good idea to think about signing Semmy on a visa slot when we should be, and are, aiming a lot higher than a rough diamond National League player playing for a small team by Handa standards

So Rossi isn't marquee quality but Honda is? Honda was playing in the Mexican league for christ sake. Not saying he's not worthy of a marquee status because so far he clearly is, but come on. Rossi would be an absolute baller in this league, is still young and has had arguably a better career than Honda. OK then.
