I see that Alex Rufer has posted a photo on his Instagram story captioned "Young boys win again" contains Myer Bevan wearing #30 and another unknown player wearing #12 with his face blacked out.

Possible unnamed trialist???

Might've just been one of the older players, or perhaps Bevan.

edit: actually, I can see Bevan in there - I assume one of the older guys filled in. No idea.

The same photo is on Burgess' insta without the face blacked out - its Libby Cacace, so probably just Rufer having a giggle

No, I'm pretty sure he's photo-shopped it and its actually Yaya Toure. Open your eyes, man. See the truth.

I do often get Libby and Yaya confused so you never know

He's at Sydney, playing for the under 21s it looks like.

too bad, wonder why his trial didn't work out.

He is a CB/RB and Rudan wanted a RWB.

Tratt is on the bench for tonight's Sydney derby. It's a shame; I figured he would have gone straight into the XI, given how the back line played last week.

Just got on to play CB after a second injury, looks like him and O'Neill partnering at CB now.

Tell you what, getting pretty excited for the transfer window, bringing in some reinforcements once injuries/suspensions become a factor + a visa spot being available could bode well for us. We're finding our stride too, its looking a bit promising

SO what do we think of Eminike as a ST option? Quick, can hold the ball up and can finish. Only saying this now as I saw an article of him "guaranteeing" goals to any aleague club that would take a chance on him...

Just wondering what we can do as the license winds down towards a decision window. It would seem all the club can genuinely offer at this point is a 18 month contract; if the license is not renewed, then the club is effectively folded. Surely that has to hurt us in the transfer market, where deals beyond 18 months are not worth the paper written on?

And even if the new independent HAL management does the decent thing and gives us a proper (same as the other teams) contract, that won't happen in time to help us this season. Which does leave us a bit jammed up when it comes to recruiting in the January transfer window.

Good shout. From what I know of him, he's fast, decent feet & shot, but relies heavily on a good ball, which we rarely provide. Hes also injury prone - especially in the past few seasons.

Put it this way, he's better than anything we currently have, but I wouldn't expect him to storm the league.

Te Atawhai Hudson-Wihongi and Justin Gulley are training with the Wellington Phoenix. I assume Bevan is still there as well.

you'd have to be happy with that depth if we signed those two and an import. Stoked

In other news, "Assumptions about Bevan still being there were dismissed today as premature"

The mid-season transfer window runs from the 3rd January - 31st January this season. We have 3 roster spots available, with 1 being a visa spot. It would be nice if we do our business early, so we can try and keep the momentum going.

Looks like we have identified 3 areas to strengthen, striker, midfielder (TAHW) & right wing back (Gulley). Probably only the visa striker would be someone to slot into the starting line up. It would be nice if we could pick up a striker like ALF at Sydney, someone who can convert the half chances we create around the box.

cannot wait to see what Rudan has in store for us in the new year - 3 spots to fill and the desire to fill them with good palyers has me hopeful!

Some talk a while ago from Taylor about plenty of English Championship players keen to come to the A league. Le Fondre came from Bolton. Must be appealing atm leave the english winter and come down here for a wellington summer.

The recent good run of results and good football hopefully can help get someone quality over the line. A more enticing prospect than travelling across the world to possibly avoid the spoon.

Sounds like they are working hard on the import striker. Guess it would need to be from someone out of favour at their club or is in a league running calender year.

Aside from getting that import striker, it's great they are looking at Gulley for RWB. Fenton's position is the only place on the park we don't actually have any depth. Stacked down the left for some reason, but no proper cover on the right (in what is a crucial position for our style of paly).

Is an import striker really what we need?

Presumably to replace Burns ...

How about a quality midfielder - and drop one of the 3 centre backs?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Formation's been great for the most part

exactly, the 3-4-3/5-3-2 is absolutely killing it for us at the moment. A marquee striker and competition for Fenton are probably the signings which would have the biggest positive impact. Our midfield is getting better and better each week, Rufer is maturing each game and Mandi looks like he's turning into a real powerhouse. Add those two signings and I think we are a real force in this league

Spot on, minor tweaks only and a bit more depth in those areas and we should be able to keep it going. I'm actually excited to see what happens

While I'm certainly riding a positivity cloud over the last few weeks results, I get the feeling our goal-scoring issues are over (for the most part). I'd much rather see a genuine RB option come in to the squad - something we've never truly had before.

A RB/RWB would benefit the squad more than a new striker would, in my opinion. Fenton is a better bench option than a starting XI one. While he's come on leaps and bounds this season, I don't want a hot-and-cold fill-in taking a starting spot, when compared to our frontline, which is choc-a-block as is.

Was 14 here yesterday, just as warm as the weather was at the Brisy game.  Mild winter this year.  I woundn't mention Wellington's real weather, I'd sell them Sydney's or Gold Coast's!!!

For the first time in the Nix history, I can't fault a single import. All on fire, and starting.  Only other time our imports were in the same form was the 11-12 season but I think these players are better bar Ifill.
