Any chance of getting a Football Fern on the podcast this week?.

No. They're not allowed out of their own half.

They wouldn’t be able to match up with the best podcast guests in the world, so what’s the point.

A request was sent to NZF some time ago to ask if we could get Sarah G on the pod.  We wished to discuss the CBA, her article, and the upcoming (at the time) Ferns match v Japan.  Unfortunately no response was received

Did you fax the request?  Perhaps a follow up phone call to get them to check down the back of the file cabinet? ;) ;)

Liam Hyslop joins the pod again to discuss the beginnings of Mark Rudan's coaching staff and the Football Ferns' loss to Japan, including the fallout from Andreas Heraf's postmatch comments which adds to a long list of major issues during the Andy Martin era. Meanwhile, Cam is super excited about the World Cup and leads us through some predictions.

Patrick, Im trying to listen through Spotify, but the fever podcast does not show anything available ?

Yeah something weird with Spotify as *all* the episodes have vanished. It'll be at podomatic/spotify's end though so should resolve with a little bit of time I'm sure.

Tried to down the podcast that is a ‘Steaming Pile’ but unable to.

On the (2nd gen) Apple TV podcast app, all episodes up to and including the current one seem to have been replaced by a different format - it shows up as a live stream (no duration), and keeps going back to the start of the stream after about 3 1/2 minutes.

Same on the iPhone podcasts app.

On the Podmatic page linked to above, there's a couple of lines of podcast details (including a play button), then a row of menu / tab options, then another block of podcast details (including another play button). I found that the lower details (by the large logo) didn't work, but the top one (under the small logo) did.

They're still missing off Spotify :| 

What we really should be asking is "Did we pay our bill?".  

I put this in the same category and Patrick recording through the right mic's.  You think it should be automatic, you know he generally does it, but there are enough cases of it not happening to warrant asking the question

Hooray, it finally downloaded today! Enjoyed the WC discussion. Lukaku for golden boot. Football Ferns finally hitting the headlines again today.

You need a pod every two days to talk about the World Cup!!

The new one is working fine.

The previous (Steaming Pile) one has started working.

And all the earlier ones are now working again.

After a quick Phoenix roundup, the pod discuss the recent revelations about Andreas Heraf's time in charge of the Football Ferns, and what they might mean for his future at NZF. Meanwhile, the World Cup group stage is in full swing and we try not to get bogged down talking about VAR.

Berisha is a nutter, but a fantastic striker. Would have had no problems with him at the Nix. As long as he's still quality 

Yes! someone else who thinks that the Russians might have dabbled in some fixing. I'm sure someone paid off a few Saudi players to play woeful in that opening match. No way are they normally that poor. Add that into the extra miles the Russian players are doing... surely some dodgy shark is going on.

They have now played 15 games at the World Cup Finals, won 2 (both in 1994), drawn 2 (98v South Africa & 06 v Tunisia) scored 9 and conceded 38. The 5-0 humping from Russia wasn't even their worst ever result - that was 8-0 against Germany (2002)

I wouldn't be surprised if there is some fixing going on from the Russians, but theres no way you can use the poor form of Saudi Arabia to justify it!

Couldn't give a toss about what they did in 94 to be honest. I'm comparing their two performances in this world cup and they are drastically different.  Feel free to rewatch their game v Russia and then Uruguay and see what you think. 

Also, player fixing is a relatively unknown entity/issue in football. But there is growing research into it, and so far it shows that it is a bigger issue than we realise. 

Aye OK, after todays game there goes my argument! especially as Russia's loss puts them on the easier side of the draw (although Morocco may be upsetting that for them!)

Glad to hear it. I think everything should be back to working again as of now so if anyone has further issues please let us know again as it's probably something new rather than the "upgrade" they did that broke a few things.

Not until after the World Cup.  Pat is too busy with his shows and the rest of us are enjoying a World Cup Bubble hiatus
