Just a question - Why did we sign Chen if hes not even good enough to get on the bench? Surely we shouldve signed a player who can at least challenge for a starting spot, or is it just me?

I look forward to hearing the chants soon.

Er, yes actually. I should perhaps qualify that phrasing by saying I meant most of the email notifications rather than most of the threads... the vast majority of emails notifications have been related to the Ricky Out thread that got renamed at some point to Coaching Angst. The other thread notices have got lost in all that traffic.

Well unsubscribe to the thread then? Turn off notifications?

Don't blame me for you not knowing about a kick off time change because people are, *shock horror*, posting messages on a message board thread.

sh*t man, stop being so defensive. I wasn't blaming you and if you read it that way you need to take a holiday.

All I said was that for the last few days I have only been on the forums to visit threads for which I've had notices and the vast majority have come from your Ricky Out thread. Have the arguments you've been involved with set the tone for you how you now read all threads?

I stand by the assertion that discovering a change to the KO time on our season ticket passes should not depend on us remembering to visit a forum to check for new threads. The YF forums remain the only place where it has been said that a previously published time has changed. I know the A-League site says "times can change without notice" but season ticket holders will naturally believe the information on their passes unless told there is a change.

Yeah sorry - I agree with your point that more needs to be done about informing people. If I didn't post on here, then I wouldn't know the time had changed and it's not acceptable the time on the official website is wrong.

It just sounded like you were saying you couldn't see anything on the form because of one thread (I have notifications turned off so didn't think about that).

It's all cool. I realised that it may have sounded odd, hence my qualification in the second post. Notifications are a good way to go by the way. Set up an auto-direct to stick them all in a YF folder and browse them all at leisure on the smartphone. Much easier reading than browsing the forums on the phone... it's just some mornings you find a 100+ messages in there from the night before.

Anyway, had an email response from the club saying there had been a press release. Has it had an publication anywhere yet? I'm working in Auckland during the week, as usual, so haven't seen the DomPost or those little regional papers.

I only read the online Dom Post and I tend to read every Phoenix article I see on there - haven't seen anything re: the time change.

Does anyone know the situation with Ifill's injury ?

Is he out, possible, probable for the Mariner's game ?

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Central Coast Mariners have made their second signing in as many days, Welsh midfielder Matthew Crowell remaining at the club until the end of the season.

Crowell, who was on trial at the A-League club three months ago, is the club's second signing this week, after the Mariners announced that midfielder Lachlan Cahill had joined as an injury replacement for Shane Huke.

Crowell, who graduated from the famed academy at English club Southampton, joins the Mariners from English Conference club Altrincham, which is part-owned by Australia cricket captain Ricky Ponting.

"Matt was really good for us in Queensland and he's come back in and he fits in really well at training," Mariners coach Lawrie McKinnna said.

"He gets on well with the lads and has a bit of a presence about him, so we're looking forward to seeing how he does.

"He's a youth international and has done very well in the UK, so we hope he can come in and provide a bit of extra spark in the midfield."

Crowell could make his Mariners debut against Wellington Phoenix at Westpac Stadium on Sunday

I liked the starting lineup against the Fury and would keep it the same.
Maybe change the bench to:

Crowther
Rojas
Mulligan
Hearfield
i hope this is a pisstake. mulligan is by far the worst player on the roster bev and is completly out of his depth, watched him play team wellington and looked average even at that standard and im pretty sure there were 15 year olds playing.
how he is in the all whites is a mystery and the team is weaker for that.

Would like to see Rojas get another run - he looks very usefull. Poor old costa though, semms like he has fallen into the shadow of Rojas.

Rojas looked a bit small, but held his own. Dont think he quite did enough to say he was amazing (from my point of view having only seen him play from those few minutes),will need more gametime to give a more lasting impression.

If we had scored off that cross of his however, that would have been legendary.

Allegedly

Rojas would struggle against CCM who have the best defence in the league (though maybe a player like him is what we will need to break them down)

Ifill is a must. Hopefully he is ok.

You'd think Caceres should be motivated for this game and wanting to do well. Bench at least for me. From the little I saw of him last week his first touch is nice and delivers a decent ball. Losing Ifill would be a massive blow.

                 Paston
Manny   Dura    Siggy    Locky
             Lia        Brown
Hearfield/Ifill   Caceras     Bertos
                       Greenacre

Bench:
Crowther
Hearfield/Ifill/Diego/Marco
Ferrante
Costa/Mulligan

Just depends on Ifill, might stick him on the bench if he is not 100% and can bring him on if need be. Or go with either Diego/Marco on the bench. Then either Costa or Mulligan, we have no other experienced defensive cover in regards to Mulligan bracketed with Costa.

Hi All

Will not be posting for a while... in getting ready for the World Masters I over did it a bit a few weeks back ... To fully recover for the games I need to take all stress off certain parts of my back... meaning sitting in front of a computer screen and typing...

So essential work only .. and read computer screen in a standing position... so I will keep reading and return when I can..

Is it right that a draw this weekend will mean its the Phoenix's longest streak unbeaten? (Four Games). Just what I've been told...

and which Strip is each team wearing?

This may have already been noted, but Sunday will be the 50th Phoenix game (and of course, Ricki's 50th game in charge).

Of the previous 49 games, the Phoenix have won 13, drawn 14 and lost 22
They have scored 56 goals and conceded 78
They have accumulated 53 points

Isn't this Sunday our 25th home A League game? I think it is and blowing my own trumpet, I have not missed 1 Home A League game yet. Now give me a medal and a chest to pin it on!!

Thank God for shift swaps!!
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!

Caceres starting - looking forward to seeing what he can offer - thought he looked good when he came on on Sunday.

"Daniel will definitely miss Sunday's clash at Westpac Stadium as he has flown to Brazil to be with his wife Danielle and their newborn daughter Luisa.

The Brazilian's absence means Adrian Caceres, who made his debut off the bench last weekend, will start his first match for Phoenix against his former team."

When is Daniel's wife going to move here? He's been a 'kiwi' for a good few months now has he not? Not to mention that he must've lived in Wellington for ages??

Daniel isn't a Kiwi is he? I thought he only had permanent residence. He's only been in NZ since 2007, so hasn't been here long enough to qualify... if he had, I'm sure Ricky would have offered him an All Whites call-up.

His wife isn't living here? Are we sure that's right and she's not just visiting family? If his wife isn't living here after just over 2 years of him being here, then I'm surprised he's stayed so long.

I'm pretty sure I remember reading that his wife went back to Brazil to have the baby.

Didn't Daniel get fast-tracked for citizenship? Pretty sure he's a NZ citizen, but still ineligible to play for the AWs.
