Why do we wear our white kit every away game? should just be if it clashes.

Don't Jinx it Grandadi!

I don't believe in jinxes. Besides, I'm not playing so I can't really affect the result (be VERY grateful.....)

It's at the request of the home team isn't it? I HATE our white strip.

I think the FFA decide, for whatever reason. Theres almost zero clash in any of the kits, but for some reason every team wears them away for basically every away game.

well we wore the stripey at Hindmarsh the other week, so cant see why we wont again.

Will Lia be back? And if so, could he make it straight into the lineup? Think he should because he really doesnt offer much impact off the bench.

Judging by his height, and his wee stumpy legs, I'd imagine they probably scrape on the ground when he walks.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Guess grandadi is predicting 1-1 after extra time, then WP wins on penalty.

My sources tell me that's not actually far from the truth...allegedly a bit swollen after some alleged activities...?

No idea if it's true but his sudden absence suggests something is up!

Right, brace yourselves.............

THE Prediction is here. We're full strength in defense, our Skipper will be itching for this one, Paul's back for probably a 20 minute cameo, the Blessed Danny is in goal, we beat them a few days ago on their own ground.....

(Drum rolls, thunder claps, lightning flashes, various obscure chanting etc.)

Adacake  1       The Mighty Phoenix 2 (in 90 minutes)

I have pushed out the prediction plank here, but I really think victory will be ours!

As Marie Antoinette (never actually) said.........."Let them beat Cakes".

Remember-

We are the Mighty Phoenix. We can beat anyone!
(this lot obviously need telling twice....)

Nostalgia isnt what it used to be...........

Alright, i'm going out on a limb here, because this needs to be said.

I know EXACTLY what the Nix need to beat the Cakes this weekend. It's a tactic we haven't tried all season, and I'm more than just a bit pissed off that it's taken so long for anyone to pick up on it.

We need more lucky headbandage.

Ricki, take notes.

Yes, yes and yes. Tim Brown headbandage - 6-0 against gold coast.
Headbanage + stripy = EVEN MORE LUCK.

so we should play like this
------vuko(with head bandage)
headbandage-stripy-headbandage-headbandage
headbandage-headbandage-stripy-Rojas (headbandage)
        stripy-dmac(headbandage)

everyone should have both the headbandage and the stripy.
yeaaaaah. win the league with that sh*t.

I'm not sure it's safe to play Rojas in a stripey with a headbandage.

If that happened, i think a blackhole of awesomeness would be created and suck in everything around him, therefore leading to the end of the world as we know it.

Your right, your right. We don't want to be TOO amazing. Rojas can just wear the headbandage.

even with the possibility of Brown,Lia and Manny all being avaialable I hope we retain 4-4-2, it seems to allow us to force teams to spend longer playing out of their defence and to prevent them pushing too many players up into attack

as well as giving our front man someone (soemtimes two options) within playing distance to knock the ball to

Bosnich talks up Vukovic
Tuesday, 15 February 2011
by Adam Lucius, Sportal

Penalty-taking Wellington goalkeeper Danny Vukovic looms as the finals wildcard as the Phoenix look to do the near impossible and win the Hyundai A-League title from sixth spot.

That's the view of former Europa League side Chelsea, Manchester United and Qantas Socceroos custodian Mark Bosnich, who has been blown away by Vukovic's form this season.

Wellington meet Adelaide United in the first knockout semi-final at Hindmarsh Stadium on Friday night.

If they survive, the Kiwis would need to win a further two sudden-death matches just to reach the decider.

But Bosnich believes that with Vukovic between the sticks - fresh from scoring a penalty in his last outing - anything is possible.

"Danny's had a great season. He's been outstanding in a season where there's been a lot of good goalkeepers," Bosnich told Sportal.

"His recent form has been great and he's going to be an integral part if Wellington are to progress any further."

"Goalkeepers, especially in these one-off knockout type games, play a crucial part and Danny is right up among the best of them."

"He could take Wellington beyond this first week and who knows from there."

Bosnich was reluctant to rate the finals goalkeepers from one to six but could not separate his top four - Vukovic, Matt Ryan (Mariners), Glen Moss (Gold Coast) and Michael Theoklitos (Roar).

"They've all come to the fore when they've needed to," he said of the quartet.

"They've set a real high standard for keepers across the competition and I am looking forward to seeing their work in the finals."

"One save can turn a game."

"They will be absolutely crucial to their teams' chances, especially if we go to penalties."

Bosnich forecast a Gold Coast victory at the start of the year but is wavering after Brisbane's record-breaking run to the minor premiership.

He said: "At the start of the season I predicted Gold Coast so I have to stick with that."

"But given the standards they have set, Brisbane have got to be favourites."

"They've set a new benchmark for footballing prowess in this country."

"We've got a team we can be proud of and they will be hoping to win to leave a great legacy by completing the double."

No.  I think it was Melbourne first (ask KP, they did everything first) back before the meltdown of the gate and the splintering of the Adelaide fan base in to about a dozen different factions.

'Lemonaide' players and fans must be just as anxious as me for Fridays knockout game, esp as we have beaten them in our last two matches!! Our strength at the back will keep van dyke and floral-ass out of the game, just as we did in our last meet in adelaide.

I think Hearfield needs to stick to Slurry as well. He did a great job of pissing him off last game, and disrupting him, stopping him from playing the game he wanted to.

Sloppy looked like the type that would lose his head easily, maybe get a card (or two), and then need to be hooked.

Originally stems from a big serial murder case in Adelaide where they guys were murdering people, cutting them up and putting them in barrels - It was only a few years back from memory.
