Doubt it, it can't be sung to the tune of "Wellington is wonderful", so can't be one of ours.

We originally sang it to the tune of "Go West" by the Pet Shop Boys, but nobody could get it and it sounded so sh*thouse that they took it off us.....

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I think Hearfield needs to stick to Slurry as well. He did a great job of pissing him off last game, and disrupting him, stopping him from playing the game he wanted to.

Sloppy looked like the type that would lose his head easily, maybe get a card (or two), and then need to be hooked.

Slurry - like it.

Have no idea about him as a player but I remember him coming off the bench in the last game against us - his first game for Adelaide. Damn he had a temper. He seemed to spend his entire 20 minutes on the field having coniptions at Phoenix players, and I think had to be forcibly restrained from belting Vuko after the match had finished [and Adelaide had LOST].

I'm sure the Phoenix will be able to use him to great advantage come Friday night

Originally stems from a big serial murder case in Adelaide where they guys were murdering people, cutting them up and putting them in barrels - It was only a few years back from memory.

Your right. A dozen or so people murdered in the 90's. and their bodies put in barrells.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Only one victim was killed in Snowtown; none of the victims or the perpetrators were from that town."

Anyone know of a good place in Napier to watch the game? Was up there just after christmas and went out to find somewhere to watch the NQF v Phoenix match (admittedly on a Monday), and there was only a couple of bars open. Managed to convince one of them to swap from cricket to the football, but the place was a bit suspect. Up there again this weekend and would like to know where to go!

It's Art Deco week up here so most bars will be showing it in Black & White to give that "nostalgic" look!

north has the pace, but I don't trust him, siggy really deserves the shot.

I was on the same flight as a certain radio commentator and a certain dom post reporter!

(sadly though I'm not going to Adelaide and won't even be able to watch the game )

Good luck Phoenix!

I got a feeling we will go back to a 433 this game. I also have a feeling Troy will be dropped.

Greeny and Troy hard done by, but thats football.

I think Siggy at RB was very good in Chch against them so I'm on the fence, but I think we need to solidify our back four.

I'm gonna take a punt and say this will be the lineup:

        DV
JN BS AD TL
    MM VL
        TB
NW DM MR

Bench: RC, DC, PI, CG

I also wanna see marco and ward switching a bit more than of late.
Could also have north and siggy switching if needed.

Isn't there someone on this forum called Napier Phoenix? You could PM him/her to ask for a good place to go.

First choice for ambiance [and possible semi-naked ladies] is the Bluewater Hotel Sports Bar at Ahuriri. Second choice is local footballing entity tim Claudatos' pub the windsock in Hastings Street, directly diagonal to the Brazenhead Pub and Catholic Cathederal.

I still believe the keys to this match will be:

* Disco staying in Slurry's pocket, keeping him pissed off so he gets hooked or sent off.

* Manny Moosecat shutting down Flores as he's done before

* The Sig dominating Van Dick in defense

* Marco carving up, and knowing that they're going to throw 2 players at him to shut him down. Use the resulting overlap to our advantage. Also use Marco on the fast break to get in behind Cassio when he pushes forward on attack (he always does, and pushes very high)

* Greenie keeping up the pace, and he and D-Mac working together like a well oiled machine.

* Ifill coming on for 20 minutes, and absolutely killing the defense, scoring 2 goals.

* Ward / Brown /Lia / Anyone making life hell for Leckie

* Most of all, Danny Vuko-Messi having another blinder

I've got a feeling we've got their measure for Friday night

ADELAIDE United midfield Paul Reid has walked out on the club on the eve of the elimination final against Wellington Phoenix at Hindmarsh Stadium.
The Reds coach Rini Coolen labelled Reid as unprofessional after the midfielder requested an AFC Champions League clearance to Sydney Football Club.

Coolen said the timing of Reid's request did not suit Adelaide's finals campaign.

He added Reid then asked the Dutchman not to consider him for the sudden-death clash against Wellington.

Cool, he's been playing reasonably well for them. Shame it wasn't Flores though.

Now all we need is for Galekovic, Flores, Leckie, Van Dijk and Cassio to walk out by tomorrow and we're all good.

If they're not going to play him, they may as well let him go to Sydney.. Wasn't there a rumour of Jade North wanting to do the same though? Sydney just trying to poach everyone. Got David Williams for the ACL!

Good pick up that too.. Wouldn't mind seeing him in a Nix shirt.

I for one am hoping this rumour is true, and that he goes to Sydney

Has any one noticed the striking resemblance between John Key and Eugene Galecovich [erk, I can never spell that name]? We've decided Galecovich is actually the New Zealand Prime Minister in disguise and we refer to him by his "real" name - John Keyovich.
