Should be an interesting day then (we give a lot of praise and encouragement to the ref and the opposition).

This must mean no "the referee's a w**ker", "...is wearing blue..." etc. chants? Mind you it doesn't stop the 10 year old in boy my row singing all these, whilst his parents smile at him indulgently....

Shame Miron has gone. i actually quite liked him. He brought colour and discussion to the League. He treated players like adults. Some of the footy GCU turned out in their debut season was excellent. I think Miron gone, is a loss to the FFA and A League.

I agree with this..when Ifirst came across Miron he talked a lot of sh*t which riled me up a bit but then came to realise that it was a lot of tongue in cheek comments and I think that the A-league is poorer for his departure. Shame that fat bastard Palmer ( who seems intent on bringing the league down ) cant get his marching orders

Miron was one of a kind..thats for sure. The press loved him for his sharp one liners....he was always good for a quote. But I think under all the showman stuff he was a very astute coach. His first year GC team played some lovely football.

Wonder if he ever would finish up coaching at the Nix.  Rickie will probably be off to the middle east to earn some big bucks after WC 2014.
I would prefer Miron coaching us to some of those other discarded A-League hacks like Vidmar, Culina, Kosimo, Merrick. He certainly would be more entertaining!!!!!

Enjoyed the GCU v CCM game last night - there are some very talented youngsters in the GCU line-up with some older, wiser heads to support and guide them.

It was refreshing to see a team with a number of quick, skillful young players, with no fear, just going for it.

If we think all we have to do is turn up next week and we will collect 3 points against GCU then we could be in for yet another very painful lesson.

Agree with everything, especially the last sentence.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

GCU have drawn their last two games.  This wont be easy even though we've got more than double the points they do, they're young and pacey.  Good weather and a decent crowd, the team need us.

Not going to be a cakewalk but we generally don't let these sorts of home games slip from our grasp - the loss to Perth earlier this year being one of the few games since Season 1 where I've been angry after a Phoenix home game.

our tough experienced heads should be able to bully these kids about, they'll score 1 at best, just need ifill/leo/dani to fire and make sure we get at least 2...

We've failed to do that a number of times in the past.  Perth last year, Sydney a couple of years back where sides have been injury hit and full of kids and we've let them play instead of putting them off their game early.

Give them confidence and you're f**ked.

GCU will be heading straight for the bouncy castles.

Very clever ploy by the Nix actually.

Kristian Rees will be standing there by himself at kick-off.

Rigters should get an interesting reception after walking out on us to join a team he thought would be doing better than us. We were the team supposed to come last!

To be fair, he walked out on us in favour of a team which was prepared to pay him something like twice as much, and had no idea that the moneybags owner was also a pie-guzzling nutbar. I'd much rather bait Palmer than Ritgers.

With so many young players who would be on minimal contracts, GCU might have needed Rigters to meet the minimum spend on salary cap.

When he first turned up I didn't expect much, had my head turned down in Dunedin. But so far this season, he looks like the player I read about whilst he was at Rovers.

Genious on Rickis part.... he came here with expectations of $400k or more, Ricki quickly spotted he was worth less than half that so he spat the dummy and left. He has been far from impressive on a regular basis at No fans united.

Totally agree with with this. rigters does tend to drift out of games and certainly doesnt seem tio like to track back to much

also, hopefully if there is a winner for the $1000 cash prize on Sunday, the winner will be brave enough to take all the cash!
Bit of booing when the guy in the last game chose to donate!

they didn't do Gareth's guest for the last home game cause he was away and think it will be the same story this week cause he's still out on the seas.

Get that up you, you beach dwelling nancy boys.  They won't know what hit them, get Siggy, Manny and Vinnie to break out a couple of early bobsleds and they'll curl up in little balls crying for mummy.

Absolutely No Mr. Nice Guy.

Be nice if we got Strebre, I'm sure he'd let Jacob Burns actually kill someone and blow play on so if he refs we should be able to do it with no repercussions.

He has 5 yellows, but at this stage of the season you need 7 or 8 to serve a suspension. Ryan's Rovers2012-02-27 17:42:13

Would be News, but you know they're going to land us with a Gillett-powered card bombing, the chance to stymie the Nix in the run up is too good isn't it, given the ripe opportunity for more suspensions in the run up?? That is, if the conspiracy theorists are to be believed..
