I wonder what was the reason behind the low crowd?

Midweek All Whites taking all the publicity?

Worst opposition in the league?

Weather bomb?

No Lochhead?

Have to say the 3 points were good but really we were very average against a team that are bottom of the league and a bunch of 'kids'
I know we won't play like that in our next 3 games, but if we did we would lose all three.

Funny; I bet if we played *exactly* the same game, but Tyson let through another two of our 25+ shots on goal, the sentiment on the forum would be completely different.

Coldest weekend of the year plus all the off-field farce can't have helped the crowd. Not surprised at that figure.

Once again an ugly win....sure its 3 points but we won't be worrying any of the other top 6 sides if we keep playing like this.
You kind of scratch your head wondering how we don't seem to be able to pass the ball through the midfield, every second pass going backwards...then you watch a bunch of kids move the ball 75 metres up field with 3 or 4 passes along the ground.

Have other sides figured Ifill out or is he just going through a flat spell.

Every single pass Greenacre made went backwards even when he recieved the ball in the box.

Pav is as potent as a wet feather duster.

Lots of work to do on the training field this week.....like finishing and crisp pass and move drills.

Made hard work of it but we got there in the end. When Ifill some conspired to miss that easy chance I thought it might be one of those days where we have all the chances and they sneak one at the death.

Huge recognition should go to Lia today I think. Playing in a completely uncomfortable position and aside from a couple of poor crosses early on I thought he was really good.

Leo started really brightly but faded out unfortunately.

Sanchez and Smith need to step up their games; decidedly average.valeo2012-03-04 20:10:02

What did Sanchez do wrong? Looked heaps better than Leo but he didn't get the ball enough, particularly early in the second half.

Fuck this stupid game

Actually, what did Smith do wrong? He was better than Brown. Did you watch the same game Valeo?TopLeft072012-03-04 20:15:11

hopefully Lochhead travels to melbourne. we missed him down the left. Although Lia did an alright job for a position he's not used to playing in

Smith played too deep and brown was playing 3rd striker (as usual). So that left a huge hole in the middle. That's why we looked a bit better once ward came on.

Didn't think Sanchez did much wrong, odd comment. He was quite good at finding space out wide in the second half I thought.

Yep, Lia deserves plaudits for taking on that role and doing it well. That last ditch interception in the 2nd half to prevent Harald scoring was crucial.

We need to come up with a way of getting rid of those horrendous commentators. It's a disgrace that they get paid to share their opinions/perceptions on the games. To all of you who watched it live at the stadium, watch the replay and see for yourself.

relieved that we got the points, a bit nerve-wracking form 70 mins tyil Ward scored

we seemed to be brought down to their level at times

but if leo had passed to Ifill and the probable goal occured they might have collapsed

plus their keeper and Rigters arse seemed to draw the ball like a magnet

I agree that they were poor, but I doubt the average punter would do any better. I just tend to watch the game and very seldom do I hear what they say except when my wife asks me if I agree with them.

Absolutely. Usually I don't get revved up about Dewhurst and co but that was an awful call: condescending, complacent and shallow. Went rock bottom with them wittering on about the apparent weirdness of calling your kid Golgol.

Don't have sky so can't really comment on what they said.  I guess these guys are paid to commentate and people pay to hear them so you'd hope they were better than the average punter.

Andy Gray anyone?

Im pretty peeved at the sky commentators in general. There is far too much general waffle and far too much opinion, and not enough telling us what is actually happening out there on the pitch.
They just need to tell us who is on the ball and try and build some excitement. I dont want constant waffle about whos in form / out of form/ top of the league/ bottom of the league/ whose going bust / doing well/ blah de blah de blah. Talk about that stuff during the week. During the game, lets just hear about the game.

Loved the game today. We GROUND OUT three points! The relief went the second went it was just so tangible..... If I'd been a finger nail chewer I'd have had no nails left. Bloke next to me, every time GCU crossed the halfway in the last ten mins, was having multiple cardiac arrests...
I always like the part of a scoreline that says Wellington Phoenix 0.

Best bit was the guy sitting in front of me. Central League player who you'll all know. No name tp spare his blushes. He gave anyone who wanted ( and most didn't ) to listen the message that he should have been out there today. Friggin' funny considering he ain't even a regular anymore at his own club....

Great to see a few stay behind and clap GCU off. Must have been a lousy week for them.

The thing is though, along with all the unrelated sh*t they talk, their chat about the actual game is horrendous as well. They quite often call it wrong or try and make it something it's not. I wouldn't mind if they could atleast get that part right but it's painful to listen to as well.

Dismal stuff today but at this stage of the season 3 points all that matters.

Some wasteful passing and lots of chances passed up. Tim Brown must be the laziest player in the A-League incidentally.

He's a lot of things but lazy is not one of them.

He just lacks any sort of finesse.

I'm not impressed either. The jokes wern't very funny, it was better in previous weeks when it was pointing out things other than just the on-field action, like what we were chanting etc, rather than all the strange sayings to describe the action.

Yeah was pretty poor. It's an official account, it looked pretty bad on the club. Has been better in previous weeks, but probably took the whole casual thing too far this week.

Have loved the casual nature of the account in the past, but this was too far. I love a sweet cum joke as much as the next guy, but these were unfunny and totally out of place. If there's any place for political correctness its the official twitter account of a family friendly football club! (on KIDS DAY!)
