I hope it was Rojas too *crosses fingers*

John was listening to Radio Live [god knows why, it has Michael Laws on it] and heard some thing there. I can't find any thing on the net either.

That is indeed the case. Heard it from Elle when I picked up one.

Got mine sorted. Makes the trip from Palmy a bit cheaper. More beer money at the BB!!!

Was in the club store today at 4.50pm to get some more of the $5 tickets, and disappointingly there were still stacks of them.

May do another run tomorrow and start giving them away to random people on the street.
Good effort El Grap.  $5 is nothing. Can't believe they haven't sold out. Makes you wonder what pathetic crowd we would get if tickets were free.

$5 tickets for a good casue and still not snapped up. WP club has got to investigate why is this happening. Has our Wellington Phoenix detached from our wider supporter base? Quality of play? Lack of entertainment value? Have many supporters been alienated by antics of YF in previous seasons? Need a breath of fesh air at the all levels? Is Wellington Phoenix setting high standards in sportsmanship and hence parents will bring their kids to watch and learn how to play the games.

Angus, very few people outside of this website appear to even know about it. I don't know anyone who doesn't watch Phoenix regularly who actually knows about this deal.

Perhaps they should've just put the tickets onsale on the day - first 5000 tickets priced at $5, first come, first served.

I think the initial advertising was confusing - gave the impression that members could buy tickets on Tuesday but the public would have to buy them at the races today.

I just think the whole marketing system of the club sucks. I mean, putting adverts in the paper is a very outdated method of marketing. Get some of their people on the streets selling these things!

No surprises here. Zero marketing budget left..only exposure has been media reported items and usual ads plus this forum.
Did see a tweet, saw the facebook entry, relying on word of mouth to carry it through ftw... we hope.

Improving,,on the up, a work in progress from Italiano and the Nix. Bring on the bathroom bling in '24! COYN!

I'm not entirely sure how big the circulation of the Dom Post really is? Some ads on Stuff might've helped too, rather than just the article that was headlined 'Phoenix owner helps with flood appeal' or something along those lines. That doesn't really alert people to $5 tickets I have to say and probably only Phoenix fans would read the article anyway.

I also think having them on sale ONLY at the shop, and the races, perhaps put people off as it was too much hassle to get to the shop?

That said, will be interesting to hear how the sales at the Races go.

A lot of people on the facebook page said it was too much hassle to get to the shop to buy them. They were really only advertised on the facebook and twitter page, I didn't see anything about it anywhere else.

Indeed - first come, first served on the day of the game would've been better. Even all tickets $10 might've attracted a better crowd.

We'll see tomorrow I guess.

I think that is an important learning - future such offers must be available on-line.

Think they did it this way to avoid having to pay a booking fee. If another such offer comes around in the future they should put a note as to what out of town fans can do to ensure they receive the deal also.

It's a great idea but I agree that marketing and availability of tickets hasn't been the best. We are out-of-towners and if it hadn't been for the kindness of Wellingtonians on this site we would have missed out on the $5 tickets. Can't see why they couldn't have sold them at the door.

Yes to every point you make, but will wait till end of run to get into that. We went to Trentham to get $5 and there was no sign of anyone/thing. The club has lost its connection with wider fan base since Tony P left. Guess the execs are too flat out reshaping the business plan.

My prediction for this game -
3-1 To the mighty nix'.

Scorers : Toto (somehow), Chrissie Green, and D-Mac.
Rojas, Brown and Daniel (somehow) will provide the assists.

Haha, I know, its far fetched, but thats how it'll go. LOL.

all AB's possible reasons for the tickets not selling (even though they apparently have sold) are just him hoping that the phoenix fall over - he has an agenda against them for some reason, sticks the boot in at any opportunity. Despite being wrong he thought this was just another chance to get a rise out of everyone

back to the tickets, i agree the marketing has been poor around this - i assume they have no marketing budget left as someone else suggested? Anyhow, despite that, it seems a large number have indeed sold... 10k at the game today if we're lucky?

I always bank on bringing jackets for the kids. If we go by car it's easy enough to leave them (the jackets not the kids) in the car if its looking warm.

Edit: I we DID leave the kids in the car (and took the jackets) I would leave the windows wound down. I'm not that heartless.
