Apologies if already posted, but I could only bear to trawl through two pages of the ACFC stuff

Thnx, hadn't worked this out for myself.
That kinda makes me realise that the Nix's inability to play in the ACL is actually quite a big problem for player recruitment and retention.
The sooner we join Asia the better.

Knights yes
Kingz not at 1st no
I actually watched the Kingz for a couple of years when I 1st got to NZ including going to 4 games in Aussie one season.
It was only after getting into the old club based national league and later the NZFC that I drew my clearly hugely unpopular views on NZ team in the A-League

[QUOTE=Doloras]My ticket was PAX 97. I'm not sure what that means.

But I still don't understand why Nix vs Cakes gets 15,000 odd pax which is 10 times more than ACFC vs Whoever, if the standard of football is identical. Mind control rays?
Because its a conspiracy against good honest coal.....
[QUOTE=Doloras]Chris, I support ACFC and the Nix, but the reason I don't get involved in active ACFC fandom is precisely because of the knitting circlers. Some people are put off organised football fandom precisely because of the exclusionary attitudes of some of the "super-fans", and the Knitters might want to consider that low numbers at ASBPrem matches might be partly their own doing rather than the machinations of that awful A-League. (They must have been so pissed off that Gareth, Rob and the rest of the Nix 9 game along.)

And no, as one of them suggested to me, I'm not going to go and support WUFC instead, because I'm neither a bogan nor a P addict and anyway Whenuapai is too far by bicycle.
This. So much this. ACFC knitters = clown shoes

You were 'threatened' because your winding jordy up. Its simple: As long as you don't mention the Phoenix at Kiwitea Street you'll be welcome. There's more people that watch the games than the 7 or so in the knitting circle

Seriously? What would happen if I do mention the Phoenix? Sounds threatening to me.

Why can I not talk about another team I support that plays in a different competition while I watch a team I support in Auckland? Sounds a bit try hard hooligan to me.

Reminds me of that north queensland fury thread "as long as you don't wear your colours on our turf you'll be fine". At least that was for the same competition.

Grow up guys.

Maybe you read what I wrote in the wrong way, but I was not threatening you. Most of us, including myself, would enjoy having you at Kiwitea Street. Certain others not, and it is their home ground, so respect them. Talk about the Phoenix and wear your stripeys, but don't go overboard by purposefully winding our knitting circle up.

With regards to the young guys people have been suggesting including mem with the coverage of the u20 qualifying games and the world cup games we have been quite lucky in getting even across the other side of the world opportunities to see some of our best young players play.

5 - 6 games is not huge (plus Wellington youtube highlights), but enough to get a general feel.

Moving away from Auckland / NZFC coal face blah blah... do we have enought fit players for Saturday.

I am not threatening you, just letting you know that there are already some fans which can not take jokes, especially from a team which they are not happy about coming up to Auckland.

Everyone stop stressing

Auckland will come to the party and we will have at least 20k.

I made this prediction over a year ago and will stake my reputation on it

they should totally have a post match party at Skycity or something

20k at Eden Park for a football match will be a success and a new beginning to NZ football

Big call this. I don't underestimate that it would impress TPTB at NZF and help convince them that the football fan base in NZ is solidifying on the back of the WC, Phoenix, womens and age group sides (I would say that Wellington is the home of football right now) but to say a new beginning is huge call. I would have thought that would have been 2 years ago that new beginning that started this interest.

Yeah Lochhead was but was not named as being injured just the week so far, just Siggy, Daniel and Sanchez I think.

Either way, they are going to have to get some ringings. Whats O'dor doing?

Isn't tsattalios seriously left footed?
He is so far, for me, our most underwhelming signing of the season. Haven't seen anything in him yet, albeit his chances have been fleeting.

He is a left footer and looked useful against the U20s in that possy. Thats not saying much for the quality of opposition though... We have 3 LBs which is a position we do not need right now.

Totally agree on that. That boy appears to only use his right foot for standing on. He's only a kid and might develop but you can kind of see how he got dumped by two other A-League teams. Before we totally right him off we probably need to see him play a full game in his prefered position at LB. Rickie has used him as a sub to replace Daniel on the left and from what I saw he did not appear to have the speed or technique to play as an attacking left sided mid.
Another ho hum Nix signing IMO

In the last 4 years how many players have we tried to convert to RB?  FFS surely one day we will recruit a decent RB and let Manny go to CM where he is best suited.

We have 3 LBs on the books, why would our shape go tits up? We only had one last year. If only one of those was a RB, cause the RB we recruited, is injured and not really starting quality (in my opinion)

TV3 sports tonight says about 8k sold, and need 11k to break even.

Presumably season tickets aren't counted as part of the break even calculations.
