So Stuff says 6500 tix sold as of "yesterday morning" - I know PAX14564 doesn't equal real numbers but is it a 1:1 ratio? ie. PAX up by 1000 = tickets up by 1000?

PAX: WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

Its odd in that we may have to use players who are not quite 100% because we have no players and the risk is that using them may make them injured again putting us right back where we are.
Saw Ifill at airport this morning - with kit bag. So obviously still considered as an option in some form. Can't read anything more into it than that.

Gave a very courteous "thank you" to my best wishes (must get them all the time). Always comes across as a good guy.

Edit: committed the heinous crime of Spelling Ifill's name incorrectly. Fixed. I can sleep easier tonight. Turfmoore2011-11-17 20:08:06

I know, I know, its serious!

Paul Ifill did mention a few weeks ago, that he was targeting to return to the pitch for the Auckland fixture. He said that he most likely wouldn't be ready for a full 90, but would try to at least come off the bench.

Heard Ifill on the radio tonight saying he is almost ready, feels ok, but a bit cautious about saying ready and fizzing to go, Fitness session and assessment tomorrow. If passed it would be up to Ricki if he played, and if so he would be coming off the bench most likely

Said he doubted Sanchez was fit, but Daniel is ok

On their side,

"MILAN Susak, Serginho van Dijk, Evgeniy Levchenko and Andy Slory won't be travelling with Adelaide United to New Zealand because of injury.

Daniel Mullen and Mark Birighitti have both been summoned to Olyroos duty in the Middle-East, further decimating the Reds squad which is set to face Wellington Phoenix in Auckland on Saturday.

Adelaide officials handed 16 passports to the 16 remaining fit players at Adelaide Airport this afternoon.

Adelaide boss Rini Coolen said the injuries and national team call ups now presented opportunities for players who haven't seen any game time this season.

Former Adelaide City midfielder Ricardo da Silva, ex Sydney FC defender Antony Golec and long-term injured Fabian Barbiero were three players boarding the flight for Melbourne and then Auckland this afternoon who have been included in the 16-man squad."

As I've said before, if Lia is fit then Smith can slot in for Sanchez no probs.

I wonder if the AUFC forum has a thread on it questioning whether all these injuries are the fault of the trainer.

I have it on pretty good authurity from a lady that attended the organising meeting on Wednesday night that tickets numbers sold were 10k. The numbers on the tickets do appear to be the actual ticket numbers.

Which makes me think that there could be a tactic of scare mongering the fence sitters to buy ahead of time ('we've sold not many, we need to sell more to break even')

The last 24 hours for sure. I've been looking for decent TV and there is not much on so I've turned to the forums. Don't panic yourself, it probably wont last.

Not the best tactic though. Why would a fence sitter buy a ticket if only 6500 tickets have been sold? Surely they are making the game seem unappealing. People are more likely to buy tickets if they know there will be a good crowd/atmosphere.

I don't understand it either. My opinion is just a theory but she definitely said that as of Wed night, 10k had been sold. It would make the numbers on tickets being listed on this forum about right. I don't know how many season ticket holders there are but if you take the 14500 mentioned above, take off 3k for season ticket holders and add in todays sales of about 1k, then the numbers seem to be about right.

PAX up by 1000 means about 1000 more tickets have been sold. Like has been said earlier in the thread, the actual number of the PAX is generally inaccurate, but the rate of change (the derivative for us maths folk) is usually more accurate to the actual rate of tickets being purchased.

It is quite funny but also what wrong with the problem. I think the imports need to be limited to 2 per team. Might seem old fashioned but the Kiwi footballers need to be able to play and develop

so no sanchez- for me a huge loss to our side, we need this guy fit and firing. Not sure how Daniel is, but I would expect to see same lineup as last week, with possibly Lia and Ifill making the bench with Tsatallios

Went to there training at NHS. Ifill Looked pretty good to me, Lia and pav were both running around. There was a guy I didn't recognize though. Maybe it was Lindsay.

What annoyed me was that we stayed around for ages and all the prizes they gave away to kids. Seemed a little unfair :(

Prizes? ....do you mean the stickers and posters? :p
I think they handed out real prizes at the Sylvia Park meet and greet.
Yea no limping from Ifill, but he looked a bit frustrated when he missed as many shots as he did. I'm sure he'll come right tomorrow

It seems they were given to the kids. Or they didn't bother. Either way you missed out. Tough.

Three for me, and two for them.

I think every A-League team has its own "coal face" knitting circle. Bling will have the Marconi/Sydney United knitters, Tards will have the South Melbourne / Knights knitters, so I'm sure the Cakes have, for example, the West Adelaide Sharks Knitting Circle.

Got to Orc-land yesterday.....FIRED up for this one.
Drove past Eden Park. Ferk me, that stand is enormous. I sure hope that they close off most of the stands so everyone sits in the same area like at ROF. If 10,000 to 15000 people are spread out over the whole stadium it will have a morgue like atmosphere(except for YF zone). Plus it will look crap on TV.
Walking through downtown I have seen nothing promoting the game.....just an ad in the paper.

Great to have Ifill back....big disapointment to lose Sanchez though

I've seen ads on my bus as well.
Must be the same munters who promote other sports at Eden Park in charge of this one as well. Apart from the RWC, everything that happens there seems to have the same 1960's 'well, everyone reads the paper so one ad in the sports section will do' approach.

Possibly part of the reason the Rugby gets such a terrible turnout.

Tbf, there have been some billboards in a couple of places in town and the odd suburban shopping mall I think

You would think they would be putting adverts on www.nzherald.co.nz, www.trademe.co.nz, and www.stuff.co.nz (amongst others) wouldn't you... given the way people obtain information in 2011...

I've seen about 5 billboards around various places. More than I've ever seen for the Blues/Auckland ITM Cup tbh. And if you walk down Kingsland there must be a couple hundred posters plastered all over the show. I think they've done a stellar effort. Much better than either the All Whites Hondouras game or the Beckham debacle.

On TV3 they showed the Phoenix players playing foosball and FIFA 12 in the mall with no-one around them. They looked bored when they were signing autographs, because there was hardly anyone there. Ifill was handing out icecream from Wendys, and it looked like he had to find people to take them.

Got tickets last night. Pax 15060-15064 chris.acfc2011-11-18 11:28:37
