OMFG where are my heart pills. Such a pity they had to cut away before we got a look at the after match celebrations.

Great game from Peter O'Leary.

Yeah, that's what they said after the wins against Perth and against the Red Tards (thanks NHPeter for reminding me, I missed that game so I forgot it). Not trying to harsh anyone's buzz, but... let's win again against Cold Ghost and THAT will be a season-changer.

I think Ricki might still have something to say about the refereeing standards of the A-League wolfman2010-12-05 19:08:09

Refereeing was sh*t. Fowler is right, we need overseas referees.

Adelaide must feel robbed with that red card and last second goal. . . . better them than us.

It has changed the season. We'll now get 3 points more than if we'd lost

did you see everyone just practically jumping on Ben at the end of the game.

I'm so happy.

I am confused about Ricki being given the sent off from the technical area. Can someone please explain? Unless Ricki insulted the Ref, he didn't seem to delay the play or heckle the opposition? I though Ricki was walking to the bench already?

How exactly was the refereeing sh*t?

Yeah, the red card was harsh to say the least but, apart from that, I didn't think he had that bad a game. I don't know what Ricki said to the referee, so neither I or anybody else on here can comment on why he was sent from the sideline.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

He was making a big fuss about where a throw in was made, and I guess he was slowly walking back to the bench, whilst yelling at the referee.

No consistency, he would award a freekick to one team, and then let play continue when a very similar offence occured moments later.

I'd start getting your friends to the games in Wellington. There has to be more than one game in Christchurch a seasn (if they don't get a side) if crowds don't go back to 8-9,000 a week and if it does happen, you can hardly blame Serepisos...

Especially if it means the greater sustainability of the Phoenix...

Problem is the send off was a key decision. It's those ones you want the ref to get right, not just a contentious throw in or somesuch. Anyway, I disagree he had a good game. He awarded a lot of very soft fouls against Adelaide (in my opinion) and seemed to let us off very lightly with tackles that were no worse. Heartily glad he did though. Was the bit of luck we needed.

As for O'leary he is bad enough at Northern Premier and out of his depth in this

Roja is our lucky charm, things are a bit more alight with him on. He takes better corners and links well with the players.

1. I didn't say he had a great game but I disagree with some of the raving on here about how bad he was. I've certainly seen a lot of considerably worse refereeing performances than that this season
2. I said I thought the red was very, very, harsh, but I was watching on telly with replays, not on the park. Lia took a boot to the head which, rightly or wrongly, the referee obviously saw as deliberate.
3. Don't remember seeing the huge number of apparently soft fouls he awarded against Adelaide.

....but that's what makes the world go round

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.
