(especially in a club with no reserve team to show your talents) These guys would usually get their chance with injuries, suspensions etc but we've been pretty lucky from that perspective this season so far.

We set out to recruit a creative midfielder and that's exactly what he is. The rest were probably recruited more as cover than anything else.

The one where he injured Burns was the best moment of that game.

If you think that was the best moment of the game seeing a player get injured(regardless of who it was ) then you a are a sick prick.

And people say I need to lighten up. Sheesh. Burns is up there with Muscat and Terry McFlynn as being hated.

I think Dura was probably lucky not to have been sent off.

If it was any other Perth player that got injured I would not have said that, but Burns deserves everything he gets.

What's wrong with being a sick prick? You got something against me Leggy?

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I just had a look at the A-League stats table....Despite playing nearly every minute of every match this season Greenacre does not make the top 20 goal scorers list or the top 40 assists list.....Could someone remind me what he does again?( I know, I know...he runs around a lot)

To be fair, the service he gets is not wonderful.

I think you also need to look at the number of balls he gets played into him at half way whhich he controls and lays off commencing many of our attacks. He battles really hard and boxes above his weight in that regard.

You also can not discount the amount of defensive work he does in the opposition half and simply dismiss it as "running around a lot".

Sure he is no goal scoring machine, but have we looked good this year when he has not been on? I know for a fact he would not have given up on that diagonal ball from Ifill that Pavoloa did on Sunday.

Sanchez does not seem to have a problem with it.

The Nix are near top of the Table for balls into the box....they create a lot of action there. It just seems like Greenie is missing in action most of the time. Brown and leo have been getting flack for not performing.....IMO Greenie deserves to be in that camp as well. He's fluffed some good chances this season and been slow when the Nix have counter attacked. Time for some time on the bench. Ifill and Sanchez up front for the rest of the season for me.

Ahhh those balls into the box usually hit the first defender or go over top of everyone (thanks Leo!), so I don't think you can use that stat.

Huge difference between balls into the box and quality balls into the box.

As much as I love greeny, and the amount of running he does, but yes surely the job of your striker isnt to be running around chasing down defenders. Hes doing a great job, but we need a guy who can get into good positions in the box to make the most of those chances, and a guy who can create his own chances.

Arent we right up there with the most balls into the box? Surte if they are bad balls, then he cant do anything, but he seems to run to the near post all the time, so our guys try to bring the ball there and it gets cut out.

He just doesnt really play as a striker if he doesnt have another big guy next to him to give him the shorter passes. Never been exactly strong on the crosses.

Pretty much this.

The way we play means he is either having to try and win aimless hoofs up the park, and/or is having to play with his back to goal and dropping very deep and hold the ball up to link with midfield players. Which means he can't be in two places at once, he can't link up with a wide midfield player bombing forward and then be expected to get on the end of a cross that midfield player makes.

From all accounts, he was a bit of a poacher in England and has had to adapt to a whole new way of playing with us. To diss what he does as "running around a lot" suggests a huge lack of understanding of what he actually does. If he was allowed to spend every 90 minutes lurking in and around the penalty area, I'm sure he'd get on the end of a lot more chances. The way we play doesn't allow him to do that.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

So somehow Sanchez is getting all the quality balls and getting the goals and Greenie is getting all the dross....... thats why he hardly ever gets a shot on goal.

i'm sorry but IMO Greenie has lost that burst of pace that would have got him into scoring positions earlier in his career. He is 34 and played over 400 pro games.....its had a toll. Sure the heart is willing but the body is no longer up to it.

I can't believe some people are suggesting we retain him for next season.....he would not make the run on side in any other A-League team. Failure to secure a potent striker is going to cost us big time this season.

Second time this week I've seen crap about how one of our players wouldn't make the run on side of any other A-League team.

I'll tell you right now that Greenie was 100% greater than Sanchez on Sunday but you'd resign him in a heartbeat.

I'll open with he's a similar age to Michael Bridges and better than Daniel McBreen.

Pav did look like he had aggravated his arm injury during the perth game. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.
Edit : Comments about Lindsay are positive. He comes in, we've never seen him so have little else to go on.rjmiller2012-01-12 12:24:59

I would suggest his performance on Sunday might have something to do with it. Everyone can have a bad daym but to have a bad day and look so disinterested???

Guessing it's the injury too - he looked in considerable discomfort after it first happened and was looking over to the bench, but can't remember if it had been cleared out by then.

I know it's fashionable to bag on him, but he was unable to run at full speed for the rest of the game, and that's at least one thing he does in every game when he's on.

Pav limped off in the game against TW after about 15 mins....was treated on the sideline for quite a while. I really hope that Pav turns out a winner because we have invested a lot of time in him but aqainst TW he had that same disinterested look after being forced off the ball a couple of times...then he got clattered and walked off.
Ifill was limping also before he went off....I think he just does it to put the shiites up everyone.

Also Piney reports Lia took a knock and Brown is home sick but both should be okay for tomorrow.

I say let timmy get better and have a rest.

I can barely remember a game that Iffy has finished without a limp or hobble of some kind

I can hardly remember a game he started without a limp or a hobble...just goes to show what a quality player he is in this league, because I don't think he's been anywhere near his full fitness since his first season here.

I can remember the playoff against the Jets two years ago, when he scored and set off on a storming run the length of the field after playing 105 minutes of football beforehand. I want this Paul Ifill back.
