I thought I'd comment on the people saying "Ricki was forced to play an attacking game". Actually, that's more or less right. One thing we know about Ricki is that he adapts tactics to players not the other way around. He played 3 up front with the AWs because having Killen, Smeltz, Wood and Fallon demanded it. He generally plays a counterattacking game because having a back 4 like Lochhead, Siggy, Dura and Manny demands it. Today we were weak at the back (as we were on Sunday, and the Tards showed that up) but we had attacking midfielders to burn - so he played tactics appropriate for a team with Sanchez, Smith and Daniel in it. It worked a treat. Ricki is a good coach and much more flexible than some give him credit for.
Ummm! No!
I have been through most of the posts and no one has said "Ricki was forced to to play an attacking game". A back line of Muscat, Dura, Siggy and Lia is NOT a weak backline.
Rickie is a good coach...defensively probably the best in the A-League and its great to see him employ attacking tactics that suit the playing style of Daniel, Sanchez and co. But we can make further attacking progress. For example there must have been at least 10 or more long balls pumped up to Greenacre and Hypen won everyone of them. Complete waste of time....
Don't mean to be critical after such a great victory but when we play the ball out of the back, are patient and keep it on the deck we play some real nice football.
