Hate to be the bearer of bad news but I heard today that no tickets have been sold for the game on sunday...

Not sure if that means literally zero tickets or figuratively very little/almost none but its bad news...

Between the run of bad form, the Loss, the whole tactics-ownership saga, Gareth publicly denouncing cats and constant negative media coverage its pretty much a perfect shit storm for a terrible crowd. All it Wellington need to be is a overcast and a little breezy and we are screwed.

And by terrible crowd I mean just us so actually a very good crowd just not very numerous.

HOLY SHIT!    This is dark times indeed.

I'm so happy we'll be getting a decent ref this week. Nothing can possibly go wrong.

ooh, I know how we are supposed to react to this kind of news......

"oh well, we are fucked.  It is very well known that *Insert referee name* hates us, and never gives us anything.  Also, *Insert 4th official name* once had a long weekend in Wellington where the weather was terrible and the cable car was out of order.  Every decision will go against us and *Insert name of opposition player who we all hate because he once committed a foul against one of our players, or something else equally inane* will break 6 of our players legs and not even get a warning from the referee."

is that correct?

Not at all. Ben Williams is a very even handed referee. He's just as liable to fuck the game up for Newcastle as he is for us. I'm just not looking forward to the inevitable sight of him doing so.

wasn't specifically a dig at you, more at the general "everything is so hard for us, and everyone is so mean to us" attitude that seems to be on here.

Williams is even although I personally do not rate him. Just as liable to lay a turd either way.

This.

He's not biased, just in a very deep pool of incompetence he is the worst.  No 'feel' for the game and as error prone as me at right back.

I don't know for sure, but I have a feeling the banner for this weekends game has already been made. Besides, I think it's more important that we get right behind the players, they need our support more than ever this weekend without having to worry about the owners.

Agree, but I think we need to extend 1-90 to from when the players walk onto the pitch, until they walk off.

As if we're that organised.  The banner is locked in the stadium.

Anybody read Gareth's latest musings to the press? this was on 'stuff' earlier today  (hope you're all sitting down)......

"Gareth Morgan has labelled the very people he is imploring to turn up and support the Wellington Phoenix as "pathetic" and unsophisticated" for wanting to see short-term results from his professional football team.

The A-League club's co-owner, who has admitted in the past that his football knowledge is limited, has also claimed that many fans "don't know much about the game anyway" and are only thinking about themselves, rather than the long-term viability of the club"

I await comments with bated breath!!

I have to break the 10 hour hiatus on a match day thread and say..................Cmon Nix!

Looking forward to team news.

Will be interested to see if there are any changes to the team or if the guys who played against Sydney get at shot at "redemption".

Will also be nice to starting talking about the football again instead of the other random stuff that has been going on over the last few days.

I kinda thought saturday's game was the redemption game for a few after the WSW game. Not to worry anyway. COYN! Looking forward to smashing a few beers sunday arvo, 3 points would be mint !

Somewhat good news, Zadkovich is suspended for the match, probably evened out by the fact that Josh Mitchell is also suspended.

That's brilliant news he has to be in the top three A league mid fielders ,would have him at the Phoenix at the drop of a hat (well we can all dream)

I wish someone could give some evidence of this new style of football that supposedly has been adopted. In the last three games Ive noticed plenty of piss poor defence, poor passing, not a lot of movement in front of the back four when they have possession , and a whole load of passing back to Paston so he can heave it forward for Huysegems or someone to fail to win it in the air.

If thats a "passing game" then Im Johann Cruyff.

I look forward to watching the next game extra closely to try and see anything thats different to what we have always done (except we are doing it badly at the moment).

If anyone can explain, please do

I'm looking forward to the ball boys at the ROF making a decent contribution on Sunday. Ten to go and we're winning shirts off the ballboys hiding the ball, lying on it, refusing to give it up when it goes out!
