Daniel was also limping for the last 5 minutes or so of the game.

Hope it is nothing serious.

A bit pissed off with Rickies tactics first half...park the bus at home. FFS we are better than that. We are deservedly second in the League and should try and play like it. It was not like we are bottom of the league trying to hold out a top team. We showed in the second half when we tried to play some football that we could put them under pressure.

Two brillant saves by Theo-clitoris denied us a point at least. In tight table topping games like that you will get very few chances and you need to take them. Most times Ifill would have drilled both of those.

Broich is a great player but he is a diving COCK! So is Berisha....he was barely touched and goes down like a $2 hooker.........Brown gets booked and is out of next week.

So WTF next week. No Durante, No Brown and possibly no Siggy(hope its just cramp)

That was a disaster!! So busy defending there were no chances at goal. Only two good shots, one of Iffy's and Leo's shot but he hesitated too long.... Ref was disgustingly bad! Brown & Durante should never have been carded.

Not looking forward to my trip up to Gosford. I'm picking the Nix to 4th on the ladder after next weekend :-(

Once again poor discipline has let us down. Durante obviously got booked for something he said to the linesman. There is no excuse for that and to get yellow for chipping an official is just plain dumb. He should have known better.Tim was unlucky but he should have been booked earlier.
Had we played in the first half like we did in the second things could have been different.
However, can't really complain as the Roar are a good side.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Borich & Berisha deserve golden globes for those performances! Proving that nice guys always finish last...

Our first half tactics were exactly the same as in Dunedin and we won that game. If Durante, and the linesman, had been a little bit more alert we would've gone into the break at 0-0.

That said, the 2nd half was very entertaining and I thought we played some decent football in build up, but our finishing wasn't up to scratch.

Ifill not firing tonight, that's unfortunate...both times when he shoots i were already celebrating the goal...just to realize later the ball didn't go in...

We were kack tonight but the ref was very poor as well. Good crowd though and it felt more than 13,000.

Hard run in to the finals but onwards an upwards boys.

You could be right about Brown but you can;t say that about Durante as he obviously got booked for something he said to the linesman.

That was the worst f**king refeereing I have seen all season. Matt Smith should have been sent off for a studs up, two footed tackle. The debacle at the end summed it all up, no foul awarded down by the Roar penalty box, but Brown carded for a much more legitimate tackle.

Jared Gillet is no longer welcome back into Wellington, he ruined the game.patrick4782012-02-12 19:37:52

That was generally a pretty depressing afternoon all round.

We gave them way too much respect first have and tried to close down the space when they got the ball instead of pushing up onto them, we were the home team ffs!  It started to feel like one of those days when we would never ever score if we kept playing til midnight.

Jimmy Downey on the bench, why?  When we are already playing a midfielder at RB could we not have at least have had Lindsay on the bench who has played in defence as some kind of cover....?

And a bunch of rash bookings and injury to Siggi, not a good day at the office.

The Roar did to us what Central Coast did as well, no room and didn't allow us to paly the long wide balls in space.

Never seen a greater admission from a ref that he's had an absolute howler as tonight when they left out a different tunnel. May as well have held up a banner that read "sorry!"

Nope, this was the last game of 5 card suspensions, so both players are suspended. If they had of made it through this game without a yellow, the threshold would have gone to 8 and they would be safe.

So yeah we lost and the ref was hopeless, but were the Nix really that bad? 1st half was similar to how we played in Dunedin, and as far as I can remember we won that game. In fact I thought we were playing better (than in Dunedin), Brisbane had no space down either the left or right flanks and their lateral short pass bullsh*t was a far more hopeless tactic for the first 40 min - they don't actually look like they are playing with any purpose during most of their pointless possession football. Note it was a long ball from just passed half-way they scored from.

To go into half-time down 1 was a bit sh*t, but things were obviously changed tactically in the second half and for the most part, Brisbane still looked bereft of ideas as well as having much less of the ball. Yeah so we didn't score but seemed to have the most of the second-half chances - this happens, its football. If we could go into every game with the same settled line up and exact same mentality we would win far more games than we would lose.

Fluctuating between extreme anger and utter disappointment, ready aim shoot;
Tactics; the first half we played the same tactics that served us so well on the road the last 4 seasons (sarcasm alert) - sit back and try and strike on the counter - looked to me like we were playing for a draw. The result was the Roar got in to their rhythm and we never got the ball. Tactics made worse by chasing as individuals and not pressing as a team. Contrast that with the second half when we did press as a team and, as a result, knocked them off their game.

We play our best football when we take the game to the opposition - we just invite disaster when we sit back

Their imports are a sh*t load better than ours.

Their first goal was offside but the second was a stunner.

Leo reverted to the she-male he was the first half of the season, Lia was appalling and Durante going off at the linesman was f**king stupid.

We got what we deserved and were beaten by a better team.

With that off my chest I dearly hope we turn up next week at CCM and have a go because -
the same sit back tactics will see the same result.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Agree with whitby.

Adopted the same Dunedin approach but this time we didn't nick take our chance when it came and thanks to a tough linp call we go in 1 zip down at the break. Second half we played with much more intent and probably forced as many saves as theoklitos has made in any 45 min period all season. On the other hand it meant we were more exposed at the back and in the end that cost us. Roar were the better team but frankly I thought we caused them as much trouble as we ever have and just didn't get the luck you need to get you past brisbane.

Proving that two different people see two different games, I thought Leo was very good and was surprised he was subbed off, especially as he had been involved in some good attacks and had just put over a superb cross seconds earlier. Also thought Lia did a creditable job. No, he's not the attacking threat that Manny is but considering they made a point of targeting his wing he did OK.

No he hasn't. He is a lot like Brown, goes missing for long periods of games but pops up and scores goals.

Goes missing in the sense that he has no impact on the game.

f**ken Riki !!!

FACT: The Wellington Phoenix brought up their 300th second half substitute this game.

only 7 have been made in the first half and that's from injuries......

I agree with the radio commentators when they said that Herbert always leaves things to the last minute but by then it's too late.

The tactics suck. We were being totally dominated in the first half and what did we do to stop it????? f**k ALL is what we did and they inevitably scored...

Paston can't catch the f**kin ball. NEVER.

What was bertos doing on that 1v1 ??? f**k sakes. Open up your body,  Right foot shot around the keeper.

Lia is not a good player. I know some of you love him but he's not up to it. Manny ftw !!

Smith had a poor game and so did Ifill even though he was still the best player on our team... what does that tell you ?

Rant over.
