Yeah im bloody happy with Sanchez so far. Hes given us that extra option central, and we have been playing a few balls down the middle to him or greenacre, where greeny often lays it back to sanchez who can distribute wide. These sort of central down the middle attacks is what we have been lacking.

Ive decided Muscat may be our RB for the rest of the season - especially if we sign Reid or someone similar, as Ricki has many options there.
Also like the suggestion of starting ward out wide. That is if we have another cm option

Totally agree with our squad this season, the greater need is RB for Handy Manny!!
Be interesting to see if Lindsay gets game time how he goes............

The latter is not the result of appeal but the ref realising after reviewing that the booking was an error. I'm not sure that the FFA provide the latter as a means of recourse within their rules, unlike the English game, but even if they do the ref needs to initiate it.

Thanks for the clarification. I still clubs/players should still be allowed to appeal yellow cards - especially when a ban is the result of said card. Exactly as in the 2nd link you posted, or in our case, for Brown who will miss a game due to being sent off after being given a second yellow following a refree mistake.

Hope I can find a comprehensive highlights reel to see how he goes too. What excites me the most is that he is 18. Many years ahead so I hope he can give it his best shot and take his oppourtunities.

I have liked Sanchez's start at the Phoenix. One thing is that he looks to support our wide players and offers himself as a passing option. Wouldn't mind if we free one of our deeper two mids to do the same so in effect have 433 with one DM (or 4141 if you like) and have 2 CM supporting the wide players (winger and FB) on their side. I think it would definitely help with us retaining possession.

Bertos and Daniel switching sides and attacking from outside in created a lot of space for our FB's to get forward into, Bertos also looked better as he struggled to get outside of Byun but could create space for Lochhead and link with Sanchez when he swiched. So IMHO for Glory:

-----------Paston
Muscat/?--Siggy--Dura--Lochhead
-----------Muscat/?
------Ward--------Sanchez
Daniel------------------Bertos
----------Greenacre

Obviously ? marks on who replaces Tim in midfield, whether we have someone as a straight swap or someone to replace Manny at RB if he shifts into DM.
Yip agree with this. I would be more inclined to leave manny at RB for this one and throw the new guy in at DM.our fullbacks are gonna be tested this week with Andrezinho and Dodd both dangerous, and I dont want another Musa situation. However at DM, players have be known to go missing and leave our back four exposed, and there isnt as much pressure to perform there I feel, so a fresh face would be good and in my eyes, they can only do their chances good

Barca style.

The only problem with this is, every one has to work really hard, especially ward and sanchez. Daniel and bertos would also have to drop back. And if Lindsay isn't up to scratch, our midfield is very bare, would lean towards muscat instead, even though it weakens the defence

oh dear. Imagine if dura had been out too! So looks like we will need some injury cover?

                  Paston
Muscat   Durante  Griffiths Lochhead
            Lindsay      Ward
Bertos           Sanchez            Daniel
                  Greenacre

Bench: Warner, Tsatalios, Downey, Smith

Unless they bench lindsay and play Downey at RB?

To appeal every yellow card would bring the game into disprute. As much as we bag the refs, they get it right most times.

It's not real until Miles says it's so.  You are all so naive.

It looked extremely innocuous, I doubt there is an injury. TV1 were actually screening when it happened, which is probably the only reason it is news. Someone just hacked his ankle in a tackle.

Ok, given the fact that we travel to Perth this weekend and then host the Tards the following week, who should be in goal?

I think we need stability and that Warner should be given the chance to prove his worth this weekend.

Thoughts?

Paston for me. Has proven to make a lot of crucial saves when as warner didn't really have to make any, just wasn't tested at all. Smeltz will hit the target, we know that. Ricky will pick warner though, considering how he has made these decisions in the past.

Fuck this stupid game

Yeah, I want to see what Tony Warner can do against a side which actually knows where the goal is.

Could you not argue that Warner had better "control" over the positioning of the men in front of him therefore limiting the saves he had to make?
