This article made me laugh...how about our starting line-up?

Paston

Muscat, Durante, Sigmund, Lochhead
Bertos, Lia, Sanchez, Fenton
Huysegems, Brockie
Ummm Muscat is midfield, Lia & Sanchez are injured and Bertos is playing Right back, good to see that the writer is paying attention, haven't even started to read the preview yet...

My 2 cents on the starting line up tomorrow:

             Starting line up

                     Paston

Bertos  Durante  Sigmund  Lockhead

                     Muscat

    Fenton       Smith      Totori

         Huysegems   Brockie

Heraldsun.com.au on ADP below. My moneys on Manny. Siggys more renowned for it but i think Manny will want to get in there first

There are fears that Del Piero will be targeted by rugged Wellington Phoenix defenders Ben Sigmund and Manny Muscat.

"Everyone has got bets on whether Manny is going to get him first or me,' Sigmund said.

Haha great quote.

Though probably not a smart thing to say. If ADP were to get injured (especially in a tackle with one of them) that quote will come back to bite them in a big way.

Allegedly

Siggy said something very similar at the open day in a joking manner.

It's a bloody stupid thing to say, neither of them have the discipline to guarantee they won't put in a crazy challenge and then what? Premeditated - sending off - huge ban. They will be wanting to protect this guy from A League hatchet-men.

Freebie ticket just obtained.  PAX 10076.  That's +40 in 30 mins.

I also on hold for a bit.

Just like the refs will be saying, which one shall I book first.... Manny / Siggy

The last few times they have been here the team goes for a walk along the waterfront on the morning of the game (weather permitting i assume) the last time they did that i had the joy of walking through their group and removing my jacket to reveal my stripey, to a few jeers and snide comments, Was brilliant

I hope the media are all over ADP tonight on the news, would be a huge boost for the crowd figure if the public see that there is a really famous player in town, even if they haven't heard of him.

Was this at training today except Fenton on the left and Totori on the right. Muscat and Smith were quite square too but the full pitch drill was only 20-30 minutes long so might be different over 90.

Fuck this stupid game

I saw them training too for a bit. What were you doing at the stadium today? That sounds a bit nosy. What I really mean is how did you get in? Didn't know they let folks in to watch training sessions. Can't wait for tomorrow, hope no-one gets blown off the "fran wilde walk" with the gale force winds and whatnot.

From Piney's blog linked on the home page:

"Over sixty fans from his home town of Nelson will take the trip across Cook Strait to watch their favourite son make his Phoenix debut on Saturday night."

Impressive and Rezpeck!

Edit: Jeepers - hope they get a decent crossing on the ferry.  It would have been a right chunder-fest today.

Fair enough.  I don't doubt that he is doing it for more than just $$ and sunshine and he is undoubtedly the biggest signing and draw card of the A-League so far.

So yes he will carry a lot of respect with many of the fans, but I don't think I'd extend that to applauding him as an opposition player.

Equally his name isn't Payne (Chris), Judas, Mini Judas, Thompson, Thiago or any Glory player so I won't boo him either.

When his name is announced I'll just raise my eyebrows as a sign of "Chur bro"...perhaps.

I wonder if, when walking in to the ring of fire, he'll feel like you do when walking in to a new pub for the first time......you can feel the eyes on you as the locals size you up, quiet mutterings of "what have we got here then" drift across the room....
