2-0 and all you need is one goal to be right back in the game, 3-0 and the game is pretty much beyond you. That goal made a huge difference, but you're right, it doesn't explain the other 6 goals.

Dura with no yellow may even have put in a tackle on ADP at some point.

As a travelling fan, it was pretty hard to watch but talk of repaying us is crazy we knew we were going to watch a football match and that is what we got. Shame the score wasn't the other way around.

All the players (except Paston I think and who can blame him) came over after the game signed banners, shook hands and generally apologised  for the result, they looked gutted. I had thought they would just walk off so no complaints from me on that score.

Also Sydney is the best place to go, that I've been so far, thier fans are great. Yes there was some general laughter and ribbing about the result but they agreed about penalty and commiserated as well.

The current situation isn't great, but does anyone remember how badly both Sydney (7-2 by the Mariners) and Melbourne (5-0 by the Roar) got thrashed earlier in the season. Both teams turned around some pretty bad form earlier in the season and now seem to be on a roll. Our slump is happening now.

Hopefully that shocker game is the wake-up call required for all concerned, players, coach, management and owners. The situation is being played up as a shock-horror scandal as hard as possible by the media using any angle they can get - real or made-up.

It seems to me that now is a better time than most to be backing our team.

Probably the most sensible thing written on this forum in the last week.

Agree, the team need our support more than ever before, and getting on their back will achieve absolutely nothing.

Yep , gutted as we were about the result/performance , Jr and I can't wait til Sunday. Will be in the Zone, second time ever  for us. We haven't ever missed a home game and we're not starting now. We're only 2 voices , but bugger it , they're our team and we'll be yelling for them like we usually do.

Agreed about Sydney's fans. They were great when went over for the playoff. Good banter and ended up pub crawling with some before and after the game. Is how it should be.

In the case of Wigan - it was a gesture made by the players and happened quickly after the game.
Certainly not a club action.

Your 2 voices could be the two that make all the difference. I agree with what you said and the other comment about time to get in behind the team. I've gone through the anger stage, not it';s time to regroup and be as loud as hell - in a good way, this coming game. Come on Phoenix, turn it around and tonk someone like we've been tonked. Have the faith!

If we were to score 7 goals this weekend, it would be the biggest turnaround in the history of turnarounds.

I'm yet to hear the interview, but not telling the media the whole truth is what got Gareth into this mess in the first place. I don't mind players saying exactly what is going on.

Interesting analysis of the game here: Sydney v Nix analysis

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

We finally made Global headlines

Highlights of Sydney FC's 7-1 thrashing of Wellington Phoenix dominated headlines of football websites such as ESPN's Soccernet and 101 great goals, while Italian newspapers joined the chorus of praise for Del Piero.

''Alessandro has exalted himself and the Sky Blues were flying. Sydney was gifted to a great day to all of the fans with a humiliating 7-1 win against Wellington.'' Gazzetta Dello Sport wrote.

"Del Piero said 'I wanted to show those yellow fever hooligans what would happen when they were shouting mean things to me in Wellington.  Well, they are not shouting now are they?' He then smirked and gave me the fingers (but was clearly meant for the Wellington chavs)."

Who is this Del Piero guy? I don't recall ever hearing of him before Saturday. Is he an Aussie? Can we sign him up, keep him for 5 years then have him eligible for the All Whites?

People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis. You can't trust people.

He is an Italian wheeler dealer.  Runs his business out of the back of a van with his brother Rodolfo.  Lives with his Nonno.

Favourite phrase: "Rodolfo, si plonker!"

I'm pretty sure he has some London cousins.
