Nelsen at RB and Manny into midfield?

Talking of Nelsen, watching Siggy recently he reminds me a lot of Nelsen (apart from Siggy's need to do the chicken dance when his elbows a near some aussie toser). Very passionate, heart on sleeve, body on the line. Siggy for Vice Captain.

Need to resign Manny. Im sure we'll be truly f**ked if we dont. And extend Smith's contract. Very versatile IMO>

If Daniels not an import, who are our imports (im sure this is an old question) and how many are we using (considering Smith is injury cover so isnt counted at the moment)

Imports: Ifill, Greenie, Warner & Sanchez?

Are we only allowed 4 spots?

If so, sack Warner :)

we are allowed 5 this season, and 4 for next year.

Smith is currently one, Daniel is not.

We are allowed 5 this season, add Smith. Next season is possible to drop to 4.

In the past he has mentioned going back to the States after his playing days are over, so if the MLS links are true, we might be down the list of destinations. But I would play a back 3 if we had a fit Nelsen.

THAT, it is the interesting bit!

I'm probably alone, but I think his best days are now behind him. I think a decent goalscorer is more important for us than signing Nelsen.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

hmmm back three with lochhead and bertos as wingbacks would be solid.
Would have to be a counter attacking based side in reality with a back three, sort of similar to Napoli I would imagine

I would play 3-5-2, if we did go back to 3 across the back.

                        Paston

        Siggy        Nelsen       Durante

                        Manny

Daniel               Smith                 Lochhead

                      Sanchez

                   Ifill      Pavlovic

Or something like that.

Why do people talk about Lochhead as a wingback whenever this 3-5-2 formation gets talked about? I must admit that really gets up my nose when I see him listed as a left half because he is so far from it. When he gets too far forward, he is terrible at tracking back

Play a winger or a left half but not Lochhead in that position!!

If Marco is willing to concede he made a poor decision to go to Melbourne, is let go and wants to come home, we'll take him.

First home game he should wear a big placard saying "I love the Newtown Park training facilities".

I just can't believe how gutted I'd be in Manny left. Rojas, Smeltz and Mckain leaving, would not even be close as to how bad I'd feel if Manny goes.
It would be slightly less painful if he went to a decent league a long way away but only slightly less.

What about Swanee? You're probably old enough to remember when it was in the charts.

Is there anywhere on this forum or elsewhere that lists all the players and how much left on their contracts. Would be keen to see this info for Nix, as well as the others if it's around.

Oh, Manny, Manny,

I still reckon the Batman tune with all the Mannys in it is worth a revival

or - one i've been harbouring for a while

to tune of "we'll support you ever more"

This is a pretty good round up of contracts:

Good news (touch wood) this morning on stuff...

Coach Ricki Herbert said the club would start conversations with Sanchez who is in red-hot goalscoring form and his agent on Monday.

Muscat, who was plucked out of Victorian Premier League obscurity by the Phoenix, has established himself as one of the toughest tacklers in the league, and Herbert hoped he would re-sign within seven days.

"Manny is very close and hopefully we can get some common ground, which I'm anticipating," Herbert said.

"He has [got other offers], he's come from nothing to putting himself in the shop window so that's credit to him, he's done a great job for us.

"Hopefully we can retain his services here."

not sure that 'telling Manny what to do' is the best way to help it happen

just a pro-Manny chant sang loudly might be the best bet

edit - of course the risk here might lie in trying to 'tell people what not to do' tigers2012-01-07 10:36:17

It's not telling him what to do.

It's us telling him what we WANT him to do. It's our way of saying WE WANT YOU MANNY.

Although I wouldnt want Manny to go, I think he has the ability to play at a higher level, his skills have constantly been increasing and so if he went I would be pleased for him.

Would not mind seeing Muscat follow the Ogmonster and Matt Simon one day if he wanted to, especially if we got a transfer fee. He is easily good enough. Would be gutted if he went to another HAL club though.

Important then that we sign him up. Did we actually get a $1.5 million fee for McKain when he went to Saudi Arabia?

Also leaving like that like you said is 'better' than him leaving for another HAL club. See Marco, see Smeltz. Not so much Kosta though.
