On the macalister issue, I've got the feeling we arent too worried about him anymore, as we are primarily looking at signing another Striker and AM for the foreign spots. And also 3 youth players

With greeny, Ifill, pav already there, and even the option for Pantelis and a youth player, I dont think we need him if we can find a decent foreigner.

Hope they are still trying to get ward back on board

I wouldn't say no to Flores, but would he be worth a marquee to us?

Him and Ifill working together would be awesome to see.

If he stays fit, this goal scorer (scoring against Chelsea) currently plays in Nelson.

I think he's 31. Injury kind of killed off his professional career. He was at League 2's Macclesfield Town in 2010. Has been scoring about two goals a game for Richmond. Apparently Sydney FC were interested awhile back. But fitness will dictate whether he can go higher than ASB Premiership level.

But would he be prepared to leave sunny Nelson for Auckland. Oops, I mean Wellington.

Its no longer a problem.

League 2 okayers have hardly set the A-League on fire and Diego was a victim of circumstance,  I don't think he ever got a fair chance.

Know it's been said before but Smeltz was playing a lowe level than that when we picked him up - must be worth a trial.

Meh Australia is the 10th Sunniest country in the world. I think he'd prefer to move here than stay in Nelson

Former Scotland, Rangers, Dundee, and Cardiff, and Scotland midfielder Gavin Rae is currently out of contract (left Cardiff at end of season).

Aberdeen are apparently interested, but there's speculation about him going to MLS or A-League. His wife is Australian (Mark Robertson's sister), so there's got to be a chance of him coming down this way of the world.

33, but could do a great job for us at least a year if we could convince him to come to NZ.

i think we have less chance of signing him if his wife is australian

Heard a dirty rumour in the last week that we were close to signing Killie - anyone got any more news on that front?

Double This.

I suspect he'll finish his career in the championship but damn it'd be epic to see him up top for the phoenix.

Bit of random speculation here, but with the Glory signing Miller from Hibs, I was wondering if there was any other good SPL players released from their clubs.

I found this thread on another forum:

http://www.pieandbovril.com/forum/index.php/topic/146888-official-released-players-11-12/

Cant say I know about the SPL, but I wouldn't mind seeing Riordan head this way, tho I am sure he will end up at a Championship club.

So, whats the equation? We still have 3 youth spots to fill, and are looking for another stiker and creative midfielder plus battling to hang on to Ward, and possibly D-Mac?
