Can't believe I'm saying this, but where is Jeremy Brockie contracted to these days?

Could he be a good "utility" option in the Disco Troy mould?

As cultured as Che Bunce's left foot and as profilic as John Lammers

Well he has learnt the art of defending.

Was Brockie really that good or was it just our other defenders were so woeful?

I'd be keen for Ricki to sign Clapham aye, he actually has a touch and can pass!

If Tim Brown plays in the A-league the way he has just played in the last two games for the all whites..we are in big trouble

Yeah we are after 3 youth players, and a creative midfielder and a striker.

Clapham wouldnt be too bad as a cheap squad filler, but not if we can get ward or a youth player with similar attributes. Just sux for him that hes 23/24 or whatever.

I'm really praying our creative midfielder isnt a south american signed from a DVD

Given Mulligan's continued selection in the All Whites and the that he's probably sick of nzfc, do we think Ricki will offer him a contract on as little $$$ as possible? (I know he isn't a popular figure among most on here, but RH keeps selecting him so obviously has some faith in his ability)

I do think that Clapham is worth a squad spot, we've certainly had alot worse in the past

Killen said he would love to come back and play in NZ at some stage but currently has a year and a half left on his Chinese contract...... its resonable to assume the nix could get him post China. he is 29 at the moment so we could get a few good years out of him. IMO he would be an excellent A-League player.

trouble is...Ricki has a lot of faith in several players who are just not repaying that faith

Newcastle Jets.

Ricki Herbert told Jeremy he would be signed in season one. Brockie played with Hawke's Bay to keep fit, was assured by RH that everything was on track. Next thing you know RH doesn't select him and never returned phone calls.

He may willing to work for less $ than he was first time round. Hes a current international and clearly in RH's good books.

I think it would be worth talking to Newcastle about Brockie. He takes up a foreign player spot on their roster and he was signed when Newcastle had no money. Now they are the richest team in the league if their owner wants to invest. It's entirely possible they may be looking for different foreigners.

You could do worse than Clapham. First time I've really seen him play and he looks decent on the ball and more physical using his body than I expected. He has a big avenue to improve as well given it would be the first time he was training full time for the whole season as a professional. He would also be cheap. Hard to judge from not many minutes but he looks much more promising than he has been made out to be.

If we signed Jeremy Brockie he has to be used as a midfielder. If we are after a right back then please sign someone else.

Agree with Luis Garcia about Brockie.
He is more useful going forward than defending. The only reason he looked so good was because the players he was playing alongside were so poor.

I think he's show he has the ability to cover well. It'd mean we had Downey & Lochy as starting full backs, with Muscat and Brockie as cover. He'd also be handy playing out wide, or in behind a striker. Very versatile.

Given we've lost North (IIRC) we're looking for another CB correct? Argh hurry up and sign some bloody players, waiting is pooooo!

Brockie would start in midfield. He's better there. Plus he can play every position except CB and GK. He might be great cover, but definitely has proven every time for the All Whites he deserves to start.

Bit of random speculation here, but with the Glory signing Miller from Hibs, I was wondering if there was any other good SPL players released from their clubs.

I found this thread on another forum:

http://www.pieandbovril.com/forum/index.php/topic/146888-official-released-players-11-12/

Cant say I know about the SPL, but I wouldn't mind seeing Riordan head this way, tho I am sure he will end up at a Championship club.

Absolutely no chance Riordan will come here...he wouldn't even move to Cardiff when he had the chance, never mind New Zealand. A home bird if ever there was one. He'd also be wanting about $6000 per week I would say.

However, any of those other Hibs players would be worth a punt. They've been horrendous for the past season but I still think they'd be fairly decent in this league. In fact, there's quite a few of those ex-SPL players who'd do well here. Craig Dargo is one on that list who might be good.

Not his best spell admittedly!

Much better rate for Inverness before that though.

Chris Greenacre scored 7 goals in 75 games for Stoke City but we've still got him...

Ricki today reconfirming the players he are looking for in senior positions are a keeper, a striker and a creative midfielder.

Goof to hear that again, because that is what we need.

Also wants three yoofs at CB, fullback and a midfielder.

And also a few tralists are on there way this week so go have a look at newtown and scope em out guys!
