On par with out first Marquee...Pierich.

Do you think the Nix have been burned by their over priced signings and are now a bit gun shy? Elrich is a good example of over priced signings that deliver nothing but bacon and egg.

Elrich was brought in as a marquee as we had a full squad at the time. Given he arrived in September and left in March his total cost to the club was less than six figures. As he didnt perform as we had hoped that why he was not offered another contract.

I may have said this before - But I saw Rigters in Dunedin and while he scored the goal that was most of what he did. I thought he looked pretty slow around the pitch generally. Maybe that doesn't matter if he is the target man, but the Brisbane backs were heaps quicker. There is the small matter of the 40 hour flight he had of course....

That makes a lot more sense.

Have we had a marquee since?

Tony P you're the kind of man who won't, but I'm sure in 10 years time you could write a very interesting book on all this!

Can't believe GC. First they take Shane Smeltz after Phoenix give him a lifeline. Then we sign Porter but his club wont let him come, so the year fater GC offer him a contract and he goes there. Phoenix offer Rigters a trial does well but rejects us so GC get him. We should charge GC Agents fees for all these deals.

Typical GCU lots of money and no brains running them,
Ask why all the senior players have left the Gold Coast and they will tell you MORON SORRY MIRON
JUST WATCH AND SEE WERE THEY END UP, He has more players on the books then another club ,He has now sh** himself after only drawing games against New Caledonia, move 2 players from a-league contracts and then sack a player because he has not signed good players in the first place or has judged them poorly.
I say good on Riki for not signing Rigters as he was asking too much for what he is worth

Now you can go to town on me!!!

He's a bit ruthless in dropping a player after just signing them before they have really played, but I don't think it has anything to do with panic. He basically saw a guy available he thought was better and so he pounced. Remember that we have cut players loose before like G**, George and Cleberson.

True. I also wonder how much Miron has seen of him. I get the impression he has made this call largely on word of mouth from the game against Brisbane, of which there was no coverage. Sure he would have looked at some backtapes but he hasn't played much for a while. Either way it's a pretty ballsy call for the amount they will be spending.

If you have ever followed Miron you will know he looks after Miron first , yes you can say he pounced but really why sign people if you are unsure he had 23 on books look at Brisbane, They only have 20 on books last year and got though season, not only just using those players but winning the comp easy, the gaffer and is staff are the reason , i have never heard of a player getting the bullet like this, very unethical

We must have been watching a different game
he outran the defence for his goal and generally looked sharp and quick
the sort of movement he was making made the rest of our guys, apart from our known speedsters, look like they were in porridge

i think we are seeing a bit of emotional mind management going on with rigters, talking ourselves out of being dissapointed that we missed out on him

as far as those talking about his physique and suggested like for a pie, really, I can't see it.  He looked fit.  We met up with another group who had a close view of him from the North stand and the ladies were pretty keen on the bod

bah, not the end of the world, would have been a nice catch, but he's clearly a mercenary so maybe not such a bad thing we missed

Cmon Ricki give us a Striker

Please come back Uncle Tony.

I'm sure it's not entirely your fault that you are a Collingwood supporter and i'm sure most people on here are willing to overlook that fact.

Hell, if we let Kiwi Pie, who not only is a Collingwood fan but a Tard, on our forums then we must be a pretty forgiving bunch!

No truth to the rumour of Killen maybe moving to Wellington when his contract expires in China at the end of the year? I'd like him and Fallon up front for us.

Nope. To be honest, somebody probably only suggested it would be cool to sign him and then I, like I often do, got the wrong end of the stick and got everyones hopes up. Classic me.

LG, bringing the lols since ages ago.

Tony P, Killen, and Rory sound like a good deadline day spending spree to me, although I think Tony P is more likely to generate a measurable ROI.

The fact is Miron B is just a poor coach. He is not the best coach on the Gold Coast by a mile.

Killen would be good, but if he did play really well he'd be another who'd be on the first plane out of here when a better offer came in. Disloyal.

Doloras - I admire your optimism*, but some of your posts on here really make me want to punch a baby in the face.

After the Brisbane game, there was a massive circle-jerk about Rigters on here, and the fact that he was with us and looking likely to sign was considered proof that the club was in perfect health.  Now after about 6 minutes of negotiation he has left and signed for one of our rivals, you are trying to paint it like it was us being selective and he is probably sh*t anyway.

* I picture you sitting in dark room with a computer and a coat-hanger in your mouth to keep the foreced smile on your face, muttering to yourself over and over again "Terry's got it sorted, Terry's got it sorted..."

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked

Assuming Killen did come and play "really well' he'd be employed on a contract. And when that contract expired he'd be free to go to whichever club made him a better offer. That's generally the way professional football works.

Mind you, I do still get a bit sour-lemony when I think about a certain hobbit like Kiwi wunderkind....
