Perhaps it's simply not God's will that Rory should help the Phoenix out. Or perhaps Ricki has had enough of Kevin Fallon in his ear for one lifetime.

But Rory will play for free! Which is the exact type of player we are looking for!

No disrespect to Wheeler, who was an excellent Capital 1 player, but really?

Just by way of context, remember when Jeremy Brockie played in the Central League and absolutely took the p1ss?  Wheeler wasn't close to that sort of good, even two leages lower.

As for Fagan, I'm sure we can't afford him.

Like I said I'm a touch biased but I truly believe he would be the sort of player that would thrive if he had the company of better players. Obviously showing this in Liverpool by getting into Vauxhall, only semi-pro sure but he has only recently returned from injury and is by the sounds of it showing good form. Pity he broke his arm early into that last season he was here, would of been nice to see him get a trial with Teedubs.

The same Rory who tried to demand a royalty off each tee shirt sold by White Noise?

That Rory will play for free?

Is this a Tui billboard?

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Downey-Durante-Sigmund-Lochead
                  Lia-Muscat
          Bertos-Sanchez-Pantelis
                        Ifill

And who else is in the team? Greenacre, Brown, Warner, Tatts, Daniel, Pavlovic, who am i missing?

Assuming Sanchez proves to be reasonable our Attack looks potent. On the other hand our midfield looks crap, defense not much better either bar durante.

Yea looks same as always - fairly solid at the back, exciting up front... not too much to write home about in the middle, just solid workers...

You never know, if we have a good run with injuries and ricki gets the best out of these guys we are still a playoff shot.. as someone else said in the 'football' thread, the other a league sides have not improved as much as they would have us believe... only takes an injury or an early season form dip to derail the best of clubs.

Unfortunately it "only takes an injury or an early season form dip to derail" our club as well. Haven't got the luxury of an emerging talent waiting to realise his potential this year like we've had in the past, either.

I think if you were to throw in a decent striker and a couple of yoofs (including a reasonable centre half option) that's actually a reasonable squad.

Be nice if Pavlovic was to develop a bit more. When does the CSL finish up? And has Chris Killen extended his contract there or not? Last I saw his team had just moved out of the relegation zone. I would suggest he's more of a 10-15 goal forward than Rory.

Well we don't know that, what if Corey gets signed up? Why could he not be the next one? I remember Paul Ifill laughing when he was left out of the U20 World Cup squad, said something along the lines of "if that kid's not in the top 20 young players in the country..."

Sounds interesting HN, is he a youth spot?

Yes.  WOuld be.

He was originally in the U20 squad and there was a change of mindset and he got turfed (as quoted above Ifill couldn't work out how) so then was called in to the Phoenix squad that playe dthe U20s that week and has been in and out of training since.

Sounds like a decent punt to me... he'd probably accept next to nothing as well which would help terry :)

We may as well throw some young kiwis in there to make up the numbers on the cheap? Never know what surprises might come of it... surely there's the odd young kiwi going around who could surprise at the next level

Who is Corey's agent (if it's his dad we'll be OK, if it is Marco's dad we're f*cked)?

Maybe we should ask NZF to invest in some top class training facilities - that will stop him from leaving.

Also put in a clause in the contract that allows him to play CAM whenever he wants.

Found Gourdie's report on him, worth a watch. It was after the U20s played the Phoenix before the World Cup.

Isnt that the reason why he was turfed from U20s? Apart from pissing Milicic off, somehow??

200 pages of speculation! And still going strong, wonder how many of the pages were actually speculation? How long did the last one go for? Can't remember it lasting this long!

Anyways I think Cory should be given a shot , from what I've seen, he's one of those guys who could grow into a quality player

That was what Corey said (sort of - they didn't play the ball to the feet or some such).

wasnt it over 500 ??

We seem to have plenty of midfield options, I think at present I would like to see more of Thurtle,  this guy could grow into a good striker I imagine. It may be a matter of getting used to the senior leve, he has been very good in the grades below
