My understanding  of the model is that use of the stadium costs pretty much the same if you have 1200 in or 12k as you have to pay for 12k in case that many turn up anyway.  Certainly a 20k is a different proposition but you are paying the base amount anyway.

I could have that wrong but it is certainly the impression i was given a few years back.

Why do they tape off the nor-west corner for every game?
So they don't have to pay people to clean it.

We don't have a lot of time to be trialling Smith. Surely his NSWPL form is almost enough of a trial already, put him on the park  this weekend so he can give Miron the finger!

Agree with this. Give him an injury replacement/guest spot and see what the kid can do. No time for mucking around now, looks like an alright prospect

We only need one u21 to meet the minimum roster requirement. So unless he is going to play this weekend, no point him signing a guest contract till he is needed. We will have time to have a look at him training for a few weeks.

Miron does a pretty good job at that himself

Hrmn... was hoping to come home to some good news about our final signing. Instead get the news that Pantelis is out for the season... bugger

So Griffiths and Ward have signed - but I thought the story was three signatures by Tuesday. Any sign of a third yet?

And good gravy - thank goodness we are not the Jets. Madness. Complete madness.

The news about Pantelis is a total bummer. By all accounts he was as keen as mustard and rearing to go. I had high hopes for him this season.

Have to admit the signing of Ward has left me with a few misgivings. Seems like the B or even C option for all concerned. Hope he brings his A game!

Members' forum tomorrow evening - what a great setting to announce our new Euro striker signings.

im starting to see ward as a new replacement for Pantelis

And i would take wardy every time tbh.

not sure about ward in the middle, and if we sign Alex smith then who knows what will happen.

Imagine:

                      Paston
Downey Sigmund Durante Lochhead
           Muscat               Lia
       Ward        Smith       Sanchez
                         Ifill

With the attacking 4 all switching over the pitch, ifill going wide, smith up top, sanchz central. Similar to the fluid attack manCity are displaying this year. Build a solid defensive back 6, and let the four attackers go nuts.

I would love that formation, especially once we picked up a new attacker.

Don't think much transfer progress was made today with Ricki in Sydney at the season launch.

You can guarantee that unless form is a dictator, Brown and Lia will ALWAYS start. You may as well put Bertos in there as well.

We've never really seen Ricki deviate from that - why would he now?

Grumpy old bastard alert

Newcastle is a lot closer to Sydney than Wellington. Still not to say Ricki hasn't worked some magic on the transfer front today.

Just putting this out there, another club which failed to sign a "desperately needed" striker in the off-season - Newcastle United (15 points in 7 games, fourth in the league).

They have more than one striker on the books though....

This is true. And I'm not particularly optimistic about the upcoming season either. I'm just pointing out that Newcastle fans were pretty doom and gloom about their chances this season but it actually seems to have turned out alright for them.

Dreams are free. Of course hes going to start Brown and Bertos. he has favourites for sure. Hence why I was imagining that lineup. But obviously a huge dream

I don't want to put the mockers on him but I reckon Sanchez will turn out to be a class signing. I watched him play a couple of times when I was in Scotland a while back and he looked alright at that level. Lets hope Ricki gives the bloke a decent crack.

Plenty of time for it all to go tits up on them this season.
