I would guess Cernak because I doubt he will be getting much game time.
Other options: Pondeljak? Allsop?

On the marquee issue- I am fine with them signing a marquere before october's end if he is worthy of that title and will pull in the fans, and a striker.

But if they mean wait till january to bring them in, then that scares me too much.
What players around the world would be available and worthy of marquee status?

Killen?

I'd be more inclined to think someone like Richard Cardozo from Vic Premier League

If you want to entertain that theory then we might sign Michael Ferrante who scored 8 goals for Richmond in Vic Premier League last season...

KFC = Hernandez

Otorohanga = Thompson.

They would never let Archie go, would piss off too many fans, they are not happy with Hernandez after pre season antics, however I imagine that they would want to sell him overseas to try and recover some of the fee they paid when they bought him

It wont be Chris Wood as he has just got an extension to his loan to Birmingnam !!

(Just wanted to highlight that   )

So we are signing Hernandez, Solorzano and Thompson then? Or why are you pointing at those three particularly?

It will most likely be Alsopp. I would prefer Thompson but is a bit of a risk given recent injuries. Seemed to have lost a bit of pace as well. It makes sense since victory have far too many high profile strikers and attacking mids.

Maybe 2B is trying to highlight that there may be some dissatisfied players behind in the pecking order to those 3 who may be interested in a move elsewhere?

Richie Cardoza - was ordinary at NZFC level for Waitakere

Michael Ferrante - why take a backwards step and where would he play when you considers Ricki's love in for Brown and Lia

Speaking of Waitakere, I recall seeing Lindsay play there earlier this year for the All Whites against Waitakere at Douglas Field. He was pretty ordinary against Waitakere and very jittery.

or more logically, that i started to do a photo for each attacking player at the victory, then lost interest.

I thought that might have been the case.

If we got Alsopp now, and then a marquee striker at the end of October, then I would be quite satisfied

I wouldn't hold my breath for a marquee signing this season.

I wrote this in the members night thread, however I feel it is appropriate to put here.

[QUOTE=Bullion] Robb is a really nice guy. He came and had a chat with me for almost 30min before the Q&A got started. I think he undersells his football background.

Anyway, I was able to ask him a few questions and got some, IMO anyway, informative and honest answers...

In regards to marquee/big signing, it is extremely unlikely to happen this transfer window as they would like enough lead in time before the league to use the player to market the club, get sponsorship on board - more a commercial reason. A better chance to sign in January as contract will not be for a full season and give them time to market player in off season.

I would be very happy with Killen. When played right he will add a clinical dimension to the front line which was shown against italy at confeds cup e.t.c. But when Ricki plays him on side of front 3 or up front with Woodsy he doesn't fulfil his potential. So in my opinion, Killen spear heading a front 3 would be awesome for the 'Nix! And it will a Wellington lad so extra awesome

Thats at least positive, but not great signs for this season. Surely getting as striker for this year is priority uno. Even if it was Payne, I'd even take that atm.
Hope this melbourne player is a striker

All I remember about Pondeljak was that one game he played at right back and Judas Rojas owned him all over the show.

Cernak - looked good in the ACL. Should be a good long term bet so surprised of MV let him go.
Hernandez - seriously under performed second half of last season compared to the previous year, perhaps unhappy being second fiddle to Kewell?
Thompson - getting on a bit, maybe good for one year?
Allsop - yes please
Pondeljak - no thanks

Pondeljak is more of an attacking midfielder isn't he? And we have enough of those. I quite like the sound of Smith, and if he isn't up to scratch then I would be happy to see someone like Payne or Lovemore get a shot as injury cover. The frontline is so thin that they would be sure to get a bit of game time, and that would be good for their development if nothing else.

I am feeling reasonably good about not having a target man this year. Last season our attack seemed very one dimensional until Rojas added some spice - and I would hate for us to go back to that cross-and-hope-the-big-man-gets-a-touch style of play. With Sanchez (and Ward) we can look to play through the middle more, which I think might give Ifill a chance to be a bit more influential and to capitalise on balls received at the edge of the area.

3 month temporary contract, but unlikely to make it here for Gold Coasts game, unfortunately

So if we are signing Smith as an injury replacement, does that mean he doesnt count as an import? Or he does and we wont be able to get that european striker we have been promised??

Ricki is hinting that after round1 hes gonna talk to some players who might be unhappy at their club. Wonder whom?

Pretty sure he's talking about disgruntled MV players.
