Why I like stripes (stripping 2009)

And you have hit the nail on the head there nkcroatia. Its a money generating exercise.

Why would you need a 3rd strip? I would think only in very rare examples. Team A wears yellow and green hoops and Team B has yellow as their first colour and green as there 2nd colour. In that case, you might ask Team A if they have an alternate strip to wear (I'm thinking domestically) because what club cab afford a 3rd strip?

We will need an alternate as Central Coast will have yellow stripes next season too. Wonder if it will be silver similar to the Hurricanes....

In the NBA, they wear their colours on the road. (The Lakers used wear yellow at home and purple/blue away and were the only team not to have white for years)It comes from the NFL because aeons ago, they seemed to think that their players look bigger in white. Home teams used to have the first choice of what colour to wear and based on above, they wore white. It became the norm and thus in American sports leagues they wear white at home.I personally think that when you travel, you wear all white. Stops any confusion and at home, you have the luxury of knowing you are the only team in parochial colours.

It's actually opposite in the NFL - colours at home, white away.
Although sometimes early in the season home teams choose to wear white at home to force the opposition to wear their dark colours in warm/hot conditions.
And the Cowboys wear white at home at times as I guess it's their most recognisable strip.

I stand corrected sir.
I am an NBA boffin and I remember when I was younger, I used to sit up and watch NFL with my Dad late at night sometimes (I'm talking 25 odd years ago when Warren Moon was a Houston Oiler) I can recall the commentator saying that the home team often chose to wear white because it made their guys look bigger especially with pads on. Just something that stuck with me and pretty much most NBA teams wear white at home for the same reason. I hadn't realised that it was now inverse

It's an interesting quote about why home teams chose to wear white, hadn't heard that before.
The only teams I can think of historically of wearing white at home are the Cowboys and Dolphins, and my understanding was that that was because of weather conditions early in the season in Texas and Florida. I know these days we (the Saints) often get asked to wear our all-black home kit in away games early in the season in places like Charlotte and Tampa for precisely the same reason.
I've always thought that the need to dark/white uniform requirements in US sport was driven by TV coverage, but I don't actually have any evidence for that.
And by the way, in NHL it's colours at home and white away. MLB is a bit different though.

That whole wearing white at home thing is just stupid. In football majority wear white away.

Youve got some good team who wear white at home Real Madrid, Germany, Valenica...then youve got spurs england and derby county lol.

I rekon 99% chance white away jersey and black/yellow stripes home

Fixed. Its the truth sorry. Everyone knows the best teams wear yellow at home: Brazil, Australia, ummm... Ecuador...

Yeah I agree, white away stripey home seems most likely, given there's no white at home teams in the league yet and there probably won't be. Even the current away strip would do, it's a bit ugly but meh.

Like I said, there are very strong indications that our alternate strip will NOT be white next season.

It's not really a matter of debate anymore anyway.

I actually think the white away strip is pretty swish...if it wasn't the same as everyone else's. Better than CCM's training strip...give it a chance

There stripes (yay) but there a lot like hull city and there more of a orange then a yellow
and the away strips are yellow and white checkered and look ridicoulous, I asked kaylee herbert if he could show me and after a bit of confincing (including $10 coming out of my wallet) he showed me. does anyone know how to upload camera phone photos to my computer?

See to me thats daft.

In the Australian heat, why not wear white? It is a summer competition and those afternoon games up in Townsville will be scorchers let alone anywhere else. Every little advantage we take, especially in climates we are not use to, help us on our quest for WORLD DOMINATION AH HA HA HA HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Why ruin the surprise dude? Would be nice to keep something hidden for the official launch...

Its like people that tell you the result of a game before you watch it... Why watch it if you know the result.

What are you doing on the big boy's forum, weren't you banished forever to the kid's section where you belong? Does this mean we've got 800 stupid threads about football shirts to look forward to every day
