Didn’t it all turn a bit sour between him and the big wigs at the club in the end?

I thought it was a wage and chiefy thing? From what I know, he certainly would come back. But that was a while ago and who knows as time passes. It would certainly fit Greenie's mantra of playing for the badge. Would love to have him back in a coaching capacity.

Not thinking someone is worth the wages and trying to get the, off the books, usually involves the big wigs however.

Also on the move is Sydney FC midfielder Corey Hollman, who is set to join Wellington Phoenix ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
The 22-year-old Hollman has struggled for game time in recent months, and a move to the Phoenix, who are rebuilding under coach Chris Greenacre, could kickstart his career.

Thats actually huge, I saw he was coming off contract and thought he'd be resigned by Sydney as I can see Okon being sold.
Hopefully turns out like Devlin did. He played a lot the previous couple seasons so it is interesting he didn't get many minutes this season.
Hopefully if we do target more Aussie players, we go for similar age profiles rather than signing older ones like Retre and Mileusnic

If Rufer is gone, I'd say its more a Retre replacement since he's been the one starting there with Nagasawa being played further forward. And then a new visa CM will be the Rufer replacement.

Ryan Feuzt just scored again in he Oceania pro comp. Hes been scoring regularly in this comp plus in Oz state league. Surely the Nix must be looking at him. Maybe not as no1 striker but he could do a job as a squad player.

Really happy to see that the rebuild is underway, if confirmed.
We got Mileusnic because we only played kids the season before. TBH I thought he always did the job he was asked for us.
Retre was an odd one for mine. Chief trying to not spend money maybe getting guys from the CPL and worse the bench of the Indian leagues.
But Najjarine, Mileusnic and Edwards was because Chief tried playing just our academy behind a couple of injured stars and we tanked. We needed a bit of experience and leadership. Now we’ve already got Hughes and Billy T, with LKH understudying them, Payney with Sheridan understudying him, Piper a few seasons older and wiser, potentially Nagasawa if he’s retained…that’s good continuity and experience. If we can add some Scrappy Doo like talent to grow into that starting role, great. I don’t know Hollman, but it sounds like everyone rates him, so great!
Rufer isn’t confirmed off yet. So we might keep our captain too. Who knows?

He’s up and down but solid overall and has had some outstanding performances so the talent is definitely there.
Apparently he’s also an aus/kiwi dual national?

We have a history with a visa goalkeeper before (Kurto) who was obviously much better than Josh from day one. However, as with some other our imports, he then ended up elsewhere in the A-League.
Whether Josh loves it here or not is kinda neither here nor there as long as he performs at a level we would expect from a visa player.
The question of whether anyone (not just Josh) should be our visa player can be answered with "yes, if we cannot get as good a non-visa player for that position for that money". On that I will let others comment. I continue to think we would need a decent regular (older?) goalie as neither Alby not Eamon are better than Josh at this stage. They are both excellent development goalies that can step up as backup when needed.

People are continually moaning about the number of players we lose at the end of a season. Despite the fact its a common occurance in the A League.
Today Brisbane announced the departure of 15 players.

I don’t think many will shed tears over 90 per cent of the players leaving.
Yeah I think we will have more players leave this season than Chiefys first season but the amount of quality players lost in Chiefys first season is going to be a lot higher than this season.
