to be fair to Giancarlo, first season Chiefyball was NOTHING like Talayball. The defense was 3x better than Talay's side the year before. Goodness knows what happened after that Victory semifinal though

Let's face it. Chiefs inherited a side that was connected, close knit and in the same page based off Uffies hard work. He rode that coat tail and has been found out massively! The way we've started and the tactics straight up prove this. There's far better coaches in Southern, Northern and Central league. Badges aren't worth the paper they're printed on

this is a comedy show

Oh that’s good news- I’d assumed from what I’d been reading that it was a tragedy! Comedies usually have happy endings…

Not always, but certainly a lot of laughing.

sutton's pretty shocking. actually, they have a few honking players. but they're well set up with quality in good places.

I’m sure that this season that every resource has been moved from the men’s to the woman’s team

Just can’t ignore that feminine strip

Auckland will rise once more

Perth only dropped off because they know they can score 1 or 2 more easily enough.

Jeez Armiento ain't a baller is he? Sorry, but it's not a particularly tough job out there in an attacking sense. And he's not putting a shift in defensively.

Hughes out is a big loss with the communication for this high line. LKH has been away for 3-4 weeks and is suddenly thrust into this new risky shape

Let’s give it some time.

Nix totally dominating the last 15 mins

Just need to sort this risky high line business

At least it’s far more exciting to watch than last season’s dirge

Having watched the other games on today, I think both sides here will get cut to shreds by the Vic, AFC etc

I still reckon he got a good chance to get a yellow this game but I will take the goal. To think if that own goal had gone in from Sutton then we could've been 2-2

Great goal from Eze, great he's officially off the mark now, and oh so important to go into the break only down 1!

There was a point where it looked like we'd be 4-0 down by half time so to go in 2-1 down is something.
Very tidy goal from Eze out of not much

I'm not a betting person but I do bet Eze will get a yellow card. That is my vibes

My money is on him being a dud.

Eze is about 10x better than expected

He's looked incredible to my eye. Hugely physical, great in the air, battles every 50/50 and technical too.

What a finish.

Rest of the team.. Well, they grew into it.

Josh is still a calamity in goal

To me it looked like he didnt mean to touch and dribble it the way he did, he wasn't completely in control of it, but the run, pass and final finishing touch were things of beauty

Perth genuinely looked a shambles late in that half. Sutton is one awful goalkeeper, nearly caused a couple himself.

Nix 78% possession at HT!
85% passing accuracy.

You can see what Chiefy is trying to do

Josh has wronged chiefy in a previous life and he's made it his life's mission to deploy a new tactic every season, specifically designed to exploit Josh's weaknesses and destroy his career

Classy classy goal by Eze  Two excellent touches and a lovely dink finish.
We actually looked like a proper football team for the last 15 mins. The first 30 mins was absolute dross. I have never seen a backline 45 metres from goal with the keeper standing in the goal. He has to sweep or its just suicide.
So did Perth go in cruise mode at 0-2 or did we get over our nerves and finally play some football? I guess next half will tell us

I’m really liking what Eze is bringing, even before the goal. James also looks like he should be a good acquisition once the backline settles (and the tactics get sorted out).

Hopefully they replace Armiento at half time and bring on literally anyone else.

If they drop deeper much faster in transition and use the ‘high back line’ just once the midfield is set we could definitely come back into the game. But if we don’t adjust at half time we could be in for a really uncomfortable opener

Sunday's a write-off, either I'm tired from celebrating or emotionally devastated

EDIT: Finally decided to change my profile picture after well over a decade. Don't let me down, Eze!
