Kosta is so much better than every other player in this team. If I was him I'd be seriously thinking about making a move at season's end. Can't be fun wasting away one of the final years of his career in a team like this
Really hoping this new mystery #10 unlocks our front line, because we're creating the bones of enough chances - we just need someone to put a little bit of magic on it, and we're golden!
i like what iffy said "now we have a contact scale"
can someone who knows advise if this is a thing? it seems to me to be like when people say that a handball is "not intentional" which is not in the rules (i think)
I can see the justification for the call. Ishige was anticipating the contact, and pretty much was already falling when the very minimal contact was made. The contact was so minimal that it make zero impact on Ishige's movement or momentum, and certainly fair less contact than would be needed to bring him down.
Did he just say "there is contact but it is not a foul". Heh? The contact caused him to fall over, what more do you need? If a player gets tripped up from behind from the most minuscule touch its still a foul, doesn't necessarily matter how *much* contact there is.

There's always been a contact scale, and despite me thinking that was a pen, that's a poorly thought out comment from Iffy. Is putting your hand on someone a foul? No. So there's obviously a scale of what's acceptable.

He's good yeah, but Wootton is a class defender at this level. Ishige and Nagasawa are both very good players who are getting to grips with the A-League. Payne and Rufer are up there with the best in the League. I expect more from Sutton and Retre who aren't being exactly inspiring this season. Also Kosta is a Wellingtonian and where else would you want to spend your final years, but at home playing in front of friends and family. Also we suck.

It was closer to a dive than any sort of serious contact. If it was given against us we'd be angry the other way. But that sort of thing has been given before. (After multiple TV replays)
Honestly I can deal with the non-handball and the offside goal earlier in the half no problems there but that no penalty is an utter disgrace, I just don't understand it

Oh piss off. ‘Minimal’ contact. He’s stuck his whole leg up, missed the ball, prevented him getting passed and got him around the knee.
Main point is he didn’t play the ball and obstructed the player who has the potential to get a shot off. He’s literally played the man not the ball.

You just called Ishige a diver. I’d tread very carefully. It’s been referred by the VAR who clearly, as with the Elliot decision, thinks it is a foul.
True, Wootton is vaguely in his league, maybe Rufer is too. But the general sentiment holdsdjtim3000

don't get me wrong, I think on balance I give that pen, but ref had a very good look at it and it is maybe close enough to a 50/50 that the video is not enough to change his mind. If it had been called the other way then no way VAR makes him look at it though. martinb

A limp lettuce would prevent more. No way Piper wouldn't have blown straight through that. Ishige fell into that leg more than it being swung into him. The guy put his leg up in an attempt to block the ball looping of Ishige's knee/thigh.
Might have been given but I can see why not. Ifill is all in to give it though.

GGF. Everything you’ve said there is irrelevant.
Apart from raises leg. Raises leg, doesn’t get the ball, blocks off the player. Foul. Pen.
Allow me my opinion on your and the refs opinion: Looks soft, Asian so probable diver, maybe going down early, don’t wanna, already said no Kris, I got the whistle ya can’t make me.

Maybe you need to lay off the abuse. You've offered your opinion multiple times and I've explained why I think the ref has seen it differently. And acknowledged it might have been given.
