Good that we went straight to Perth though. A bit of time to climatize to weather and time zone. Looks like high 30 temps there today but dropping back to high 20's tomorrow.
That few extra days in Perth will make a big difference for us. Especially those in the squad first time to travel Wgtn - Perth for a football match.
Don't think we went straight there, we stayed in Australia but some of the media indicated we got into Perth mid week. Still, good to stay in Australia and acclimatise.

Good to see so many faces coming back in the very near future. Hopefully this means we can give Old the 2 weeks off he needs to fully recover from that injury and have him fit and firing for the business end of things.

I think it must be sobering for Salas that from his hometown of San Jose in Costa Rica it is only 4,000 km to Montreal in Canada, but Wellington to Perth is over 5,000 km in a straight line.
I think San Jose (Costa Rica) to Buenos Aires (Argentina) distance would be somewhat similar to Wellington - Perth distance.  Quite a long hike.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Good to know, think there was an interview with Hughes during the week when he said they'd just arrived and hadn't trained yet, but they might have released the interview late.

Chiefy's presser pretty much tells us the lineup we can expect. Kraev, Zawada & Salas not fit enough to start, Payne & Rufer are. 

Either our first choice 4 at the back, with Rufer, al-Taay & Conchie in midfield and a front 3 of OVH, Ball & Old.

Or swap Hughes for Conchie and we play a back 5. Since we are still away and that is still a fairly weakened starting XI, I'm expecting the latter.

But it's great we have Zawada, Salas & Kraev to call upon from the bench.

Hughes spoke at 8.30am Wednesday morning NZ time. They flew Monday, recovered Tuesday, trained Wednesday/Thursday/Friday.

Feel like OVH will be quite important tonight. Kosta does a shark load of cardio up top that needs replacing. Ball presses like a bloodhound too, but we need some faster and younger legs doing some of the grueling stuff for him. Big night for him again

Really worried I'll spoiler myself tomorrow morning when I wake up. Might need to get the wife to jump on the laptop and see if the game has already been uploaded to KeepUP...And, if so, kick it off for me

If you watch on Sky Sports you can just go on the sky guide and go back to the game and watch it like that and avoid socials

And watch out for friends/family members ringing you up early in the morning and cheerfully saying "You must be disappointed with the Nix game last night!". Been stung like that before.

Chiefy was full of praise for the young brigade last week, so I wonder if given the situation he's said to the lad to go out and make every post a winner before we get guys back from injury? Happy to see him start again though. Ruf's back alongside him is a big + too.

Can't expect he'll see much more than an hour of action though. Just like last week.

That's the right starting eleven for me. Will be a challenge keeping Perth at bay but at least we'll have some big guns to come on in the second half.
