We should be hammering perth. There is no excuse today. Really disappointing.
6 of our starters out,
Perth having the third best goals against record in the league, defending with 9 men now, plus Lewis injured.
We've created chances, just not really clinical but not surprising given our top goal scorers are not playing.
This is why the Phoenix never win anything. This type of attitude. We aren’t good enough and shouldn’t be okay with it.

Ben Waine is good in defence.
Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Just as the commentators say its our last chance we bang it in.
I just got hit because we are sleep training our baby, he fell asleep 10 minutes ago but in the pure joy i leapt to my feet and yelled.
Little dude is still asleep, and Nix still won...fudge yeeeesssss

Now magic Lewis’ ankle better!
Geez
That’s our depth finally standing up.
Great composure to bring the ball down and keep the shot low.

Justice done! Nothing worse than a team parking the bus for 90 minutes. That's an important 3 points

I've never actually heard Pennington speak before. I knew he was Italian I just didn't realise he was like Italian, Italian you know?

The 11 vs 11 on the field perth were worse than us in every way. I don't know how the 6 missing players are relevant to that fact. Now if Perth were better than us than sure those 6 missing players would have been a good reason we were doing poorly.

Could be in line for a call up for Italy with brass balls like that and a knowledge of where to find the goal…(purely after the Italian game yesterday where I thought they were still playing so well, but just couldn’t find a moment.)

Was just thinking we need to make it count and they fudgeing did! What a goal and what a time to do it. Really thought we’d fudgeed it up completely but fair play, they carried in till the final second. Really hope Lewis is ok.

A point is a point and it all helps building towards the end of the season but what was crucial being able to grab all three here is with the homecoming you want Nix to still be in the playoff hunt to draw the crowds come April. Pennington's heroics tonight may just be responsible for a few thousand more bums on seats at Sky Stadium and Eden Park next month.

Feverbot! Feverbot!
We’ve got games in hand on every team above us. If we can string it together…
That was a Wayne flick on too?
Wayne and Pennington in goal scoring form. Everyone else fired up!
We’re going to win the league, we’re going to win the league…I mean if we did…pheeew!

Brilliant lat gasp winner by Pennington. I hope Lewis recovers rapidly. We really need to play better against Roar in the next match, rather than the performance at the last outing In Moreton Bay, which was very disappointing.

Lewis is off to the hospital for scans. Looks more dislocation than break but time will tell.
I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

Dislocation can often be more complicated than a break if nerves and other bits are harmed. Let's hope he is ok, that looked awful for him and the team.

Watched big chunks of it again and Perth were honking.
Question is can Sutton be better than Libby? Doesn’t seem to have the same bull charge attack, but can pass, dribble and shoot with his head up.
Lewis thing looks bad, but hoping it looked much worse leaving the ground than it is. Three games and two long haul flights…
Looks like Ott and Manuel are in for some game time.

Was that Finn Surman with the flick on header at the death for Pennington to bury? If so that'll be a big boost to contribute something for a youngster to add to a winning performance like that.
Perth were shockingly poor, but we really needed that 3 points. Excellent for a depleted squad to get that across the line.
Hopefully Lewis can recover quickly and it's not as bad as it looks. Can we access a short term injury replacement? Because we're really in need of personnel at the moment.

If Lewis was on the green whistle morphine immediately I’m guessing that’s his season is gone. He’ll be a huge loss. RR mentioned Barcia (ex Tee Dubbs) from VIC NPL as a possible short term midfield replacement. Nix will have limited options being outside transfer window. So looking at NPL leagues or someone like Howieson.
It’s going to be tough for Nix from here to make the Playoffs with so many injuries, and an already thin depth (Weenix kids). Plus 3 games a week for next 2-3 weeks. But as long as they continue scrapping to keep themselves in the playoff hunt, should get good crowds in NZ. But yeah a few 4-0 drubbings (which could happen now) and yes there will be less turn up.
Struggling to beat the bottom team, who were down to 10 men, without their best player, a bit ominous
At least Payne & Laws not far away from a return. Hopefully Piscopo & Van Hattum likewise
Fingers crossed Melb City’s Socceroos are late getting back from Saudi

Well yes but beating a team that parks the bus and settles for a draw is always a tough order. We did it with how many of our first team out? 7?

Yes but 3 (Rufer, Hooper & Lewis) of those 7 are likely gone for the season. Plus Sotiro will miss 4 weeks (so about 7 of the remaining 10 games).
Nix's recent great run was built off being able to use the same 11-13 guys (virtually no injuries), plus basically no travel. That's all changed now. Could be a few tough results before season end now, as likes of Ball, Sandoval & Wootton have to be rested periodically.
Considering all the hurdles of this season, will be a great effort if Talay can get Nix into the playoffs. Not the end of world if they fail to get there. Hopefully next season they can have a fair proper crack at the league, at last.
Breakers are bottom of NBL, Nix women finished last (yes they had even more hurdles than Nix men) & Warriors after yes only 3 games, are in the bottom half of the NRL. They were 12th of 16 teams in 2021. 10th in 2020.
Basically all the NZ teams stuck in Aus, since Covid have been pretty average. Nix Men actually done the best.
