So in theory they should stuggle today!
Anyone thiniking they wont come because of our form is robbing themselves of a cracking day to be at the footy.

Queenslander 3x a year.

It’s a concern when a poor crowd is blamed on nice weather!!
ballane
Wouldnt be expecting a big crowd besides the fact of recent results its friggen hot already and cant see many wanting to spend the money needed to sit at the stadium mid afternoon in it apart from us tragics.

Auckland will rise once more

Edwards drops to the bench, Armiento back at LWB, on the left of a very young backline, and Piper up top with Eze. Interesting stuff

Ouch. Green squad and a difficult game ahead IMO.
Will be interesting to see how Smith goes. He looked a bit slow last time out. Which might be why Edwards is benched.

Haven't seen much of Jayden Smith other than small amount of minutes for the first team. I didn't get the impression he is quick, which means with LKH in the backline as well it really will be a challenge with our high line. Not sure if Sheridan plays in the middle or on the right of the 3.

We could be doing something completely different given players out, playing a bit deeper or change in shape (like 442/4411/4231 without the ball and 352 with it). I know Chiefy hasn't made drastic tactical changes, trying to embed the system, but possibly given unavailability of players could necessitate some tweaks.

Has Retre and Mileusnic died? I don't understand how every season our players just seem utterly unable to recover from injury.

Wondering if it's  4 4 2. Hope so.

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Really not a good pax sign that the central corporate gate entry turnstiles are the only one open/staffed.

Fudge.me.utterly dead inside for 30 minutes prior to kickoff.

Imagine if Chiefy wasn't stubbornly fixated on one defensive system that doesn't even work and we had a functional back 4 plan B to turn to

Honestly I like Chiefy and want him to succeed more than anything but the obsession with this system, especially when he doesn't have the players available to make it work, it just stink of some sort of tactical arrogance.
It'll work eventually, you'll see!

I think that was a fair cop last season. I don’t think it’s fair at all this season. In fact, the worst performance was when we backed off the high line. The high line goals that look worst were players in Loke and Edwards coming in and playing people onside or not being covered well enough or being 100% prepared.

I think we’ll see something else this game as neither Loke or Smith is fast enough to play a high line. Or against Randall and these Newcastle boys aren’t much slower.

I wonder if we’ll see Piper playing off Eze or Eze playing off Piper…

Onya! Sing loud, sing proud!

We’re the Phoenix the Mighty Phoenix
We’re not the Kingz or Knights

Or if you prefer the boys school Shakespeare:

But we in it shall be rememberèd—
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that chants his pride with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in Wellington now a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That sang with us upon this glorious day:

O! Wellington!
Is Wonderful!
We’ve got the wind the rain and the Phoenix!
Oh Wellington is wonderful!

No the poor crowd can be completely blamed on the club management who give us nothing to cheer for, and the coach who continues to serve up dross.

When going to the games is so expensive, you simply can’t do the above. Yet here we are…

In fairness I think there might just be more here than at the national league final yesterday. That's if you count the stadium staff as well.

That has to come back to the manager though, if you're playing guys like them with less than a handfull of pro starts and expecting them to slot in to a system like that without making a mistake.

Yeh, it’s a gamble that we’ll score more. I think we’ve already had more shots than all of last season!

We have to use some tactics. And attacking tactics we’re familiar with is better than something we’re not.

Last week they were blowing up off sides very early against us. That was clear and very slow.

I'm expecting a strong performance and a few goals playing at home against the league strugglers. I believe in our players, but can't say I'm confident in our coach to deliver that.
See its that sort of statement i dont get, you believe in the players but if they dont deliver by either not taking shots or missing the target, missing tackles, mistiming passes and playing badly. Its all on the coach, at some stage the players HAVE to be getting some of the blame.
You might be right, watching us just about gifting the Jets a goal there... sheesh

Oooof Eze got to do better than that. What happened there did he take his eye off the ball or had he given up on running once he saw Corbin was going for the shot?
