$79 for silver, I'll pass I think.

Will be interesting though to see if Wrexham pass it back all day like we do.

From the limited games I've seen of them they play a very different game to us. But then I also suspect that there is no way they would gain promotion if they played anything like us.

Hopefully they manage to get a good crowd for it. Prices aren't ridiculous for a foreign team and they will be a championship team soon enough.

The saltiness from those north of the bombay's is hilarious.

I'm sure they'll get their fair share of international teams visiting, once they've been around for more than a season.

All said and done this is a good, and badly needed piece of positivity for the club after a frankly dog shark season.

Well done to the club for getting it across the line.

Now there's a timeline in place with this friendly, and assuming we get past Brisbane tomorrow night, we could well have another fixture shortly after in August for the Australia Cup. Hopefully this is just the prelude to what will hopefully be a quick and decisive off season in the transfer market which allows us to hit the ground running come October sometime.

Back on topic 😅

As for the Wrexham friendly itself, the only negativity I've seen is around the pricing (and Auckland tears at thinking it was going to be them 😭) but in all honesty I think the prices are fairly reasonable - And I say that as someone who will be travelling from out of town.

Looking forward to it though, and its going to be a good chance to catch up with good mates and sink a few brews. The result won't matter at the end of the day, I'm just hoping for a decent turnout - 25-30k might be ambitious, but we'll probably need around that to attract another overseas visitor in the near future.

Bigger picture vision though - solid prep, exposure for the younger lads, and hopefully leads to some quick solid off season acquisitions to get things in place for 25/26.

Proces seems to the same in Aus so I'm going to assume it is whatever promotion agency that is involved is setting those.

to compare...this is what the prices were for Football United. That was 11 years ago so add about 25-30% for inflation since then.

The reason why it feels like steep prices is because of our season and how we’ve been playing.

Add to the fact that this will be an  early pre season game for us, I’m not excited at all, unfortunately.

Some of the negativity about this game is really sad..Yes we had a sharkty season, yes we need to sign some decent players. This is light in a dark season. They could have taken the game to Auck but they chose us.  Could be a very interesting July indeed.

I think this is good get for the us and having Wrexham come down should be fun and I plan to attend as it's my birthday, so I'm hoping for a Ryan Reynolds welcome to my birthday party.

In all seriousness though, if Auckland FC don't host Bournemouth in pre-season in the next five years it shows what the priorities of each club is and I think that the Nix pulling Wrexham after a poor season, while Auckland not hosting Bournemouth or Foley's clubs show you that the Nix are still the more marketable club in NZ.

I hope this game is a success. However Wrexham is not Galaxy with Beckham. Does anyone apart from Instagramers know the back story to this formally unknown club? My mates and I had never heard of them. How many people will shell out $59 for what is essentially a gimmic celebrity ownership fundraiser.

Anecdotal evidence is anecdotal but i didn't even know about the show Welcome to Wrexham until a non-football fan at my work told me about it.

Me! Sad fact, but doesn't matter who it is, I'm going. Phoenix 'til I die.

Pathetic. Not apathetic.

Welcome to Wrexham is the second viewed "non-scripted" show behind the Kardashians on Disney plus, over 4m followers in Aus and NZ. People know who Reynolds is and will also know Wrexham.

Surprised by the interest from non Phoenix and football fans. Might be a bigger crowd than anticipated. They have opened up the whole stadium which is never done as soon as tickets go on sale so they light be thinking the same.

I also suspect the club won’t make anything here nor have taken on any risk. So a win win really. Good promotion for the club just hope we get a decent crowd so we get more of this in the future

Rumour has it you'll get a used Deadpool costume, a six pack of Wrexham Lager, and the box set of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Maybe even a Disney + subscription chucked in there too just for sharks and giggles.

Pretty much my whole family is keen to go to this - they are all into sport but they don't really go to many Phoenix matches. They've asked to get on my presale link - so it feels like there is quite a bit of interest outside of the usual football goers

Both shows of course being heavily scripted.

Three for me, and two for them.

You and me both mate. I came down from Palmy to join the NUFC supporters - please don’t hate me, now I’m in Welly I’ve seen the light.

But back on topic, good on the club for swinging this. I wonder if they snatched it away from our northern friends or whether there’s some murky back room reason why it was never going to be AFC (how do Wrexham feel about Bournemouth?).

Hopefully the buzz among people who don’t regularly go to our games will translate into us not having lost all our casual fans next season.

Hollywood & Wellywood connections?

Taika Waititi worked with Ryan Reynolds on Green Lantern. I think Jermaine Clement has worked with Rob McElhenney on the Minecraft movie??

I have a family member who probably wouldn't go to a nix game ever saying she would have gone but they aren't in WGTN that day, because she has watched Welcome to Wrexham.

Just catching up on this chat. And I'm sure this has been asked..

But do we have a team??

Seems a bad time to do this. Half a squad. Off season..

players are back on 1 July. We have 19 players signed atm.

It always surprises me when the Ticketek site works smoothly, but I’ll be seeing some of you in the Zone.

Does anyone know much about Wrexham’s YF equivalent? Since observerfromuh has more chance of getting Ryan Reynolds to attend their birthday party than most of us do of getting into the Welsh Dragon after the game, it’d be cool if we could show the Wrexham travelling support some Fever hospitality and organise pre-game drinks with them or something.

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Austin111 offered the comment above.  I spluttered "of course we do" and then my friend pointed out a thing called age. Ready? In 1978 Wrexham played Arsenal in an FA Cup tie and we'd watched, in Lower Hutt,  the highlights on the Sunday midday programme the Big Match. https://youtu.be/XS4OVii2mmY?si=rQ8ePSrNtljmA0py

Was it really that long ago? 🤔

One of the bays behind the goal has sold out.

Annoying you can't pick your precise seats online.

Wrexham were a decent club in the 70s. Mickey Thomas, the Welsh winger ended up at Man United. Then they declined around 2000. Non league for far too long but try bareback without breaking the bank to do it.

I've followed the TV series since day one. It's great.  We should offer Ollie Pslmer a contract.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

This very much. I thought I was doing it wrong.

Edit: and a bit worrying that there was little in the way of warning on what "Active Support" means. Being cheapest seats, it will be the usual mayhem.

I know, I know, its serious!

It's a bit ridiculous when you think about it, as if there are no overheads in moving around cash and staffing a ticket booth. Just build the damn fee into the price of the advertised ticket and move on.

Will the Fever Zone be just choose where you want to stand like a normal game or will we be needing to adhere to our ticketed seats for this one?
