I left a comment on a Wrexham thread on Facelessbook about loaning Mullen (Now loaned to Wigan) & loaning or signing Ollie Palmer. It was "loved" by a "Ryan Reynolds". As per normal you think bogus account but I dug further on that particular poster and found this version has 21 Million followers so who knows, might be the real deal Ryan Reynolds.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!
Interesting article on stuff that the Wrexham manager speaks to Tommy Smith on a fairly regular basis about kiwi players who may be able to do the job for him.
Surman has Welsh parentage and from some of those Portland videos a gregarious personality.
Good angles for the TV show.
Every coach in The Championship will be aware of Bindon. Joe Bell? McCowatt? Smith's Auckland team mates Hall & Pijnaker? One of them leaving could mean more ALM mins for Tommy.
Sounds like Wrexham will be taking this game seriously, though you would expect their coach to say that. There will be plenty of players who will be wanting to show the coach that they should be in the starting 11 for the up coming season. The Nix will be very much in preseason mode. I doubt if we will get any new signings in time. Still, it should be a fun match
National broadcaster TVNZ has confirmed a partnership with TEG Sport, meaning they will be able to provide live coverage of Wrexham’s three tour games against A-League clubs Melbourne Victory, Sydney FC, and the Phoenix.
Have we got 11 to play Wrexham in two weeks’ time? Yes, we have 18. Currently the A-League men’s squad is sitting at 18. The plan of attack, which we have done the last few seasons, is we combine the reserve team and the first team over those first few weeks of pre-season, which is a good opportunity for the first team staff to have a look at those players that in the reserves team, that are actually doing exceptionally well this season. A number of those boys are potentially in-line for U-20 World Cup as well. That’ll be good for both the reserve team players to be able to come into the first team environment and for the coaching staff to be able to assess the players too.
The Wrexham format allows for 25 players for the bench, with 11 to obviously to start the game and 14 subs available in six windows. Given where we’re at in the pre-season you’re probably looking at first team players probably a maximum of 45 minutes and then the next tier will come in and the reserve team boys and potentially also a couple of trialists.
Have we got any signings coming before the Wrexham game? We could have a couple done. Visa players will obviously bring a different issue in terms of visas and getting them into the country, so I don’t expect to have visa players here prior to the Wrexham. In terms of any local signings we’ll probably bring a couple of trialists in, particularly around the left back spot to replace Sutts. If things were to work out and potentially we could have a local player signed prior, whether they’re able to participate against Wrexham is another question.
Sounds like Callum Wilson has just signed for Wrexham
Didn't happen and Wilson's been more recently linked with Leeds, Everton and Burnley. Wrexham seem to only have the profile and dosh to land less high-profile players. Confirmed signings by Wrexham :
Official
Wrexham AFC sign Daniel Ward from Leicester on a free transfer [Goalie signed by Leicester from Liverpool. Actually born in Wrexham, so a dream move for him]
Official
Wrexham AFC has signed Ryan Hardie from Plymouth Argyle for 0.8 M€ [Ben Waine's former strike partner]

Danny ward was a great keeper. We had him on loan when Liverpool wanted to test him and he did so well they cut short his loan. Needless to say, klopp is not well thought of on the back of that as we were likely to push Celtic all the way that season.
It's a risk free deal apparently for the Nix owners, so why wouldn't they, but as a game it has zero appeal to me. Wrexham with no household names for anyone who doesn't watch 'Welcome to Wrexham', and the rag tag bunch that are the Nix pre-season.

Probably not great for our reputation if it’s a small turn out though. And will impact likelihood of promoters bringing games like this down here
I must admit i never got the attraction of a Welsh team that has been playing in the English 3rd div playing a game in the depths of the off season. I hope its a success and there is some positive buzz for the club. Sounds like the Nix will play mainly reserve team players in the second half. That will be quite special for the youngsters but it could lead to a score blowout if Wrexham are remotely serious.
Forget the negative nellies. It's time to get our kit on, get down to the stadium and support the Nix! If Wrexham had decided to play against the mob up north instead of us, we would not have been happy. Let's enjoy it for what it is - a friendly at which we have the opportunity to see some new prospects and enjoy some football in the depths of the off season.

You need to watch 'Welcome to Wrexham', it's a great show. The town has become massive in the US, the later series features plenty of visitors who have come to Wrexham from generally the US simply to visit the town, go to the Pub that's heavily featured in the Show, shop at Club Shop etc.

Look like Capital Football have moved games earlier in the day where possible.
If anyone’s looking for a curtain-raiser the Nix U18s play Petone in the WCL at 11 - my plan is to take the train into town after the game then camp out at the Featherston for the afternoon.
Which leads to the obvious question, is there any interest in organising a Fever march to the RoF? Since I’m asking I’ll put my hand up to help if needed.
Wrexham attempting to sign Chris Wood's teammate: https://www.msn.com/en-nz/news/other/wrexham-agree-club-record-deal-for-premier-league-star-as-they-aim-to-make-mark-on-championship/ar-AA1I3ELF "But as Wrexham look to establish themselves as a second-tier side, they are keen on signing Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O'Brien, according to The Sun. However, they are struggling to meet his desired wages, which are claimed to be around £35,000 per week. While Forest are willing to accept an offer in the region of £5 million, a gap in personal terms could undo any prospect of a deal. O'Brien has made 13 Premier League appearances for the Reds since joining them fro Huddersfield Town in 2022. However, he has fallen down the pecking order at the City Ground and spent the second half of last season on loan at Swansea City after previous spells with DC United, Middlesbrough and Los Angeles FC." _________________________________________________________ [Seems to be the level of player that Wrexham can attract - a guy who has failed to make it at Forest & was on loan at Swansea last season. Wage demands of £35,000 per week - geez, that's what some Phoenix first team players would make in a year!]
Remember a Jay Rodriguez and Chris Wood double act, getting a win for Burnley at Old Trafford a few years ago. Back when beating Man U away was still a bit special
Members have received an email showing the front of the new kit. I won't spoil it but be aware that if you want to wear it to the Wrexham match you have to place your order before 2pm Wednesday 15th July.
