As I said, I don't get it at all.  I've followed Ipswich for 31 years and I don't care if it's John Wark, Kevin Beattie, Matt Holland, not for any money would I wear an Ipswich strip to a Phoenix game.

But the point is also that the club colours in question don't support him nor does he support that club. His colours now are snot green and white. Red doesn't feature

No, not at all. Hate is a very strong emotion. Really only saved for one team (hint, not the Mackems)

Only 3 more sleeps, I cant wait for this game it should be a cracker, hopefully the fever zone will be at full noise this weekend and show Robbie Fowler and his team who has the best supporters in the A-League are.
Just like to say that part of the pandemic news letter was a bit dissapointing, i reckon the more players like Fowler, Dwight Yorke, Charlie Millar etc etc who come to the A-League the better the league will get, the more class players the more fans, Fowler will probally drag in an extra 1000 fans this week, which creates atmosphere and thats what brings the punters back every week.
Call him what ever you like, but he is probably the best footballer after DB to ever set foot on NZ, so he deserves some respect.
Apart from that a good read.

He's an opposition player who deserves to be treated like every other opposition player (except the real cocks).  If you start thinking like that it's a short step to waving him through on goal because he scored 183 goals for Liverpool.

FFS, he's a North Queensland Fury player, if he was the best playerto visit New Zealand he wouldn't be in Townsville that's for sure.

How's my driving? - Whine here

We do seem to have a problem in that dept in the first few minutes of the game regardless of how many goals have been scored previously.

I don't understand this fixation with Fowlers past.

Yes, he a brilliant, brilliant player but he's also a North Queensland Fury player. That means I don't like him when he is playing against Wellington. Period. Its nothing personal - but for that 90 minutes he is wanting my team to lose... Why would I like that?

And nothing changes that. I don't care how many goals he's scored in the prem league or how many titles he's come close to. He's still a North Queensland player and he still wants my team to lose.

Seriously, this thread is getting as retarded as those one-eyed rednecks down in Canterbury who were on talkback yabbering on about how they were going to support Australia in the egg ball game, just because Robbie Deans got the Wallabies coaching job.

No matter how good the man is/was/shall be, the fact is, he's the opposition, he's the enemy, you can have your love affair with the guy when he's playing someone else, but you don't support the guy when he's playing your home team, in your home stadium.

And you most certainly wouldn't show up to support the Wallabies vs the All Blacks in a Crusaders top, without looking like an utter cock.

Replace Robbie Deans/Wallabies/Crusaders with Fowler/North Queensland/Liverpool, and you get this thread.

I don't know how some people manage to tie their shoe laces these days...Ard Righ2009-09-17 23:23:37

I agree with wearing crusaders gear and being a cock.

But for international football matches you do see supporters wearing club colours.

Also I like summers when I can wear sandals (without laces)!

Bottom left hand corner looks like the Canterbury God...also called Robbie.

Two Gods in one place over the weekend. Does that make RoF heaven? Hopefully NQF's hell.

We were more worried about being struck down by lightning for blasphemy than for making some humorous remarks about a player from our clubs opposition.

Hadn't even considered a Phoenix supporter might get rabid because we made a gag about a North Queensland player.

As Sister Isadore might well have said to us at St. Joseph's a long time ago.....

"The use of correct punctuation is next to Godliness" !!

The use of  " God " instead of God might have got you off the hook.

However......

Should there be an unexpected outbreak of "pestilence and affliction" at the ROF this Sunday afternoon...
We will know why we're being punished!

I'm hoping God's a bit busy right now though...EPL,Europa League,UEFA Champions League's on.

Oh sh*t!!
So I go and watch Perth Glory when they play at home.
I wear my PHOENIX TOP while watching the Glory!
Am I going to stop wearing my Phoenix gear while watching the Glory?
NO WAY.
Though I must say I would NEVER wear the Phoenix Top in the SHED as I respect the die hard home supporters.
Up in the Family Stand I sit where it is safe.
So those that wish to support R.F. respect the wishes of the DIE HARD SUPPORTERS OF YELLOW FEVER and sit in the away section for this one game.

Karl Dodd just said on QLd radio that he almost quit football while playing for teh Phoenix, and playing in the Fury suits him more because of the 'passion'.

it's  not only liverpool shirts you have to look out for i have heard that the glasgow rangers fan club nz are turning up to see fergusson the coach of north queensland even organised to meet him and his players.a bit sad for people to come to a game to see the coach of an away team when they do not go to the football any other time.

will be an interesting game me thinks. If our midfield can click with Brown and Lia, then we will have a big edge over them. So who will be the bench?
youve got: Mulligan, Diego, Chen, Caceres, Hearfield, Rojas, Barbarouses, and Ferrante.

I think I would look at using Chen, Caceres and Rojas.
Usually I would say Hearfield, but I think Rojas has proved his potential and looked more promising than him. Diego also will be in the mix  soon because he needs another shot. Especially if we lose players for AW games

Pretty sad state of affairs when "fans" only turn up tp a game just to see a particular player (exception being Beckham but then that was a specially organised friendly game, this is an A League game) and dont show up for any other games. What sort of football fans are they?

Fowler was in his day a good player for sure.

The A League is NOT the EPL and some fans really need a reality check and stop thinking that the current players in the A League itself  are all EPL standard. They are not and that is a fact. However, it is a professional league that is getting better and real football fans whom have a local team in it should all make the effort to show up and help add to the atmosphere.

The Nix are a lucky club, we have fans that travel from various towns from around NZ to attend games when they can. It's brilliant that they make the effort and they are welcome on the terraces.

Those Liverpooll fans whom show up just to watch Fowler should also come to other Nix games and help create a cool atmosphere, not sit at home and watch the game/s on Sky, if they are shown.

Too true. A true football fan would go and watch anything if it is on, particularly when starved of action in this part of the world, not just go and see a player who once played for another team. Be thankful and see what's on offer nearly every week!

I know it is hard to believe, but kids who play football have dads (and mums) who can't be bringing them to Nix games or we'd have 15,000 a game. Tragedy and poor form from the parents.
On top of that, there must be thousands of senior players who don't show.

Nothing personal, but lets boo him anyway.

BTW: Vasco to win Brasil Serie B and to do battle against the Fogo in 2010. That's what I'm talking about.

Well I can only make it to one game a year (from Hamilton) so this one seemed to be a good choice...
- Wife is from Liverpool
- kids love Liverpool FC (yeah, brainwashed)
- Robbie IS a legend
- it just happens to be son's 10th birthday

... so it all makes sense to me.

We're still supporting the Phoenix, but might have trouble getting my son's new Liverpool kit off him. (Will try to get him to wear his RR underneath).
