Just heard about the game, good stuff, so potentially 2 friendlies if we get the match against Australia?

Looking forward to it!

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

possible that Boxall and Boyens may not be available for this game due to Vancouver playing away to Chivas USA on the same day (1st of June).

Can't wait to watch him again tomorrow, see if he gets really tested. (I think he's playing tomorrow..)

1 June is not a FIFA window, the window is 4-8 June.

So if the clubs won't release then we can't have them.el grapadura2011-04-16 17:21:07

As a Whitecaps supporter, I hope we don't release Boxall.
Also as a Whitecaps supporter, I hope Chivas don't release Boyens

The more international experience the better.  I was worried, there'd be nothing much to play for for another 12 months.

outside the window? Hope we can get a competitive team...

edit: yep very much agree with Edward. Was getting out of football watching condition. Don't really have a team in the EPL, so...martinb2011-04-16 21:05:34

So does that mean we could have another game inside the window? making three games? First game in before the window, the other at the beginning of the window and a possible game at the end of the window? Japan is going to Copa American so I doubt they want to play then. It would be nice to have a home game for a third game.

3 news said they were still in talks to have a game against australia in adelaide on the 5th of June. fingers crossed.

So I know we are going to play Mexico, try to play Australia on the 5th, but could we not leverage off Serbia playing Australia on the 8th.  Even a training game would be good.  Serbia are ranked 16th.  Three games against top 30 opponents would shake off the rust and give good exposure.  New Zealand will be in Adelaide anyway, so no change of location for Serbia or NZ.

It would have to be a training game for the Serbians (and a run for the squad) because only the 6th and the 7th is available without any addition to their flight schedule and the fact that there is very little rest in between games for the players from both squads. One of the teams have to do back to back games and that isn't a totally fair for a full international game.

I think the best solution is to get our own opponents for ourselves on the 8th. Most countries uses the window for two internationals cause that is as much they can do. The fact that we are playing an early international away before the window is really to Mexico's advantage and Mexico can play three games themselves using the first game for their inexperience and home grown players to get a run as some clubs would release some players outside the window.

Still nothing locked in or abandoned.  Negotiations and evaluation of logistics continue.

'friendly' ... yeah right. They need to put up a trophy or something for this match.. so then egg-ball people won't try and dismiss it as a non-match

I'm actually way more excited for the Australia game than the Mexico one. It's all very well playing a team high up in the International Rankings, but for me, a 'local' derby holds far more importance.

Working on a leave pass at the moment. Wife doesn't realise yet but its all psycological. Laying the ground work so to speak.

Its no longer a problem.

I have broached the subject.  Trouble is Mrs. News 40th birthday 3 days later.

I reckon that likely result is attendance with whanau.  No weekend on the hammer in Melbourne and Adelaide... unless I can swing a return from RADelaide and then get on a plane to Sydney with the whanau.
