I think it is important that ricki selects some young promising players so he can at least have a good look at them and determine if they are up to scratch. He doesnt get manychances to see these players due to his A league commitments and needs to take advantage of such opportunities.

They dont need to play many minutes but at least be part of the squad. If they are taking 20 players, many wont get serious game time anyway.

I see ex premiership player, Danny Hay has came out saying this young German keeper should be picked. I assume he is not part of the rufer mafia is he?

AGAIN that is what the Under 20 world cup and olympics is for. perhaps the qualifiers at the end of the year for also but NOT now

Danny Hay is tripping!

Dear god, the same Danny hay who said this...."At just 19, he is already playing in a professional environment in Germany's third tier for SV Wehen Wiesbaden".
He is not playing.  Do some research.

Thanks, good article but you are right it is a little old. If anyone knows if gleeson has been offered a new contract for the mls side let us know. I cannot see him at the moment in their squad

You were asking his situation, that article is old, I know! but it answers your questions, and if there isn't any 'new article' then no, he hasn't been offered a contract, yet.

You talk up this German keeper because he's the third/fourth choice in the third tier of German football.
that article on Jake Gleeson tells you that he is the third keeper in the running for a MLS team (he starts for their development side) and if he can overtake the second keeper he will get a MLS contract.

That actually sounds like he's at a higher level than this 'German keeper'

I'm not knocking Danny Hay, but there have been a lot of very good players between Rufer & Nelsen.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Knowing how 2nd best likes his conspiracy theories I'm surprised he doesn't think it's wynton

Ok it's taken me a while to get  round to addressing this claim.  The article where Wynton talks up Marinovic is this one.

http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/fifa-world-cup/all-whites/3703321/Wynton-Rufer-blasts-All-Whites-Cup-snubs

In it, he said he provided a list of 8 names, of which 3 were Marinovic, Chris Wood and Andrew Milne.  Now funnily enough, those three names went through the WYNERS  academy (see http://www.wynrs.co.nz/wynrsakl/Players/internationalplayers.html). I bet the other 5 are former WYNERS graduates.

Also interesting that Rufer reckoned he needed to recommend Chris Wood to Ricki.  Interesting, because Chris had already played in both the Bahrain games.  Now I wonder why he put a name forward of someone who had already played for the all whites?  Perhaps because he was a former student of his academy.  Publicity much?

I'm sure you'll overlook this post though.

No there are no rules about posting their own personal details, why would there be?  Is there some legal precedent you'd like to avail us of?

The actual Salmon will be annoyed that people are taking his name in vain.

AP, you came on here to engage in discussion/debate regarding the AW selections but refuse to reply to other people's posts when they take you up on point/s you make.

You then claim to be something you're not, for what reason I don't know.

And to top it off now you start name calling like a child.

What is your motive here?

Needs another definition:

From 'The World Game Forum', usually followed the statement '3 years tops' to describe how long the A-League would last before it collapsed.  Used by supporters of old NSL clubs who were disenfrachised by the A-Leagues introduction:

Example :
I'm loving the A-League it's getting great crowds.
3 years tops!  ARF!
