Quite happy with the first half - we were pulled to shreds a couple times but aalways got back.

Rojas looks god on the ball - just need to find his feet a little more andtry to keep a little more possession.

But i'll take what i've seen so far.

Rojas looks tired..

When we play it to feet we actually look capable..

Keep just kicking it away..!

HT 0 - 0  Uruguay not as dominant as I was expecting. If NZ could hold the ball, retain  possession  they would achieve two things , perhaps create a chance for themselves and not make Uruguay look good by giving it straight back. Uruguay still quite tentative and by no means unbeatable.

Half-time musing.

It's very difficult to know how to rate a half like that. Judging from the standards of scratching and fighting for results then job done. Juging from any kind of aspirational level it is an almost complete failure - very little build up play and almost no phases of more than 2 -3 passes. Bright spots, Lucas when he drops off (although he'll have to watch his temper) and Marco when he gets on the ball, a couple of mazy dribbles were imprssive although a couple of question marks over his pace. Once he beat a player he hasn't quite been able to run away from them.

On the downside - some dozy defending at times has left us looking ragged. Marinovic looks solid - one save truly outstanding, he looks a player (although I will disagree with my co-commentator Doloras in that I think the first three times he was called into action he did no more than would be expected of any keepr. One remarkable save though).

Musa's distribution, seriously little more than kicking as far as he can (although thought he did well on the deck with guys running at him). And really disappointed with Rowe - received the ball standing still and invariably hit long or gave it away. Even watching from the couch I'd know to let him have it every time and wait to get the ball back. I had hopes for him but he looks a long way off the player we had hoped for.

I'd like to see someone in the midfield be brave and start to receive the ball and we need someone in defence willing to bring the ball forward or even attempt the ball to feet.

And keep giving it to Marco.

Marinovic goes well but every keeper does for us at these tournaments. Is his performance any better than Basalaj's at the U17 World Cup?

Marinovic under the high ball??? I seem to get butterflies every time a ball is floated into our 6-yard box. Great shot-stopper though...could make up for it.

We only have one outlet Fojas on the Left - Cain is not offering anything on the right and is playing a defensive role. Perhaps Milne will offer more on attack if brought on.

Agree on Rowe comments - he had a great chance to overlap and Rojas played the ball expecting it and Rowe had instead made a run back to his own goal.

Our tactics are clearly to knock it long and he has taken it to absolute heart. Hopefully after i expect another similar 20 mins we will get told to look to keep possession more.

Good to see Uruguay try to go long a bit towards the end - hopefully that continues.

Marinovich looks class , but i have worried about him dominating the 6 yeard box in the air in both games.

NZ best 60 seconds of game so far, just after second half starts. 6 - 7 passes on edge of opposition 18 yard box - applying a little pressure even.

Yellow for Uruguay. The lads in white-and-blue seem to be getting a little rattled.

Said he gets past the first few and then lacks the pace to go further

Great run down the right wing, perfect cross, diving header leaves keeper no chance. This is not the same Junior AWs who went off at half-time. Someone's given them some jungle juice.

Wow... fantastic goal.

Uruguay have almost struck back three (!!) times in the next 60 seconds though. We need to be careful.

Uruguay come right back, but Marinovic pulls out great save 6 by my count (probably doesn't count on JD's scale :)
